Cardio during bulk

Do you guys still do cardio when trying to bulk? I'm trying to add about ten or so pounds before prepping. Definitely don't want ten pounds of Fat but seems redundant to add calories then burn them with cardio.

I do. It makes me hungrier and I feel like I store the size better. Besides, eating the 2-300 calories back is no big deal.

Breathing heavy sucks.

if nothing else....it's good for your heart and bp.

if you are using AAS, taking in a lot of food, gaining weight, it's only natural to assume your BP is going to be higher than average.

nothing wrong with a little cardio, and as someone else said it's good for stimulating the appetite too. i do 25-30 minutes of fasted LISS (high incline walking) every day no matter what. i will tell you i feel much leaner overall. when bulking up it's easy to feel like a bloated piece of crap by the end of the day. def don't like that feeling and i do what i need to do to control that from happening.

^^^^^ 100% Accurate ^^^^^

Good points guys, thanks for the input. Guess I'll keep up the cardio, makes sense to

30 min 3x week. Good for heart, especially for us older brothers.

If you train hard enough, what is the point of cardio? I can get my heart rate up pretty damn high while training.

Dante anyways promoted it best. Early morning fasted cardio with bcaa's for medium duration and minimal effort (135 HR for 25 minutes)

I don't do it. I train hard enough with high intensity and volume

I try to be a health freak these days so it's not even negotiable to me. It's a must.

Id say cardio is a necessary evil for those of us over 40.

Huge component of long term health in Shelby Starnes e-book the healthy bodybuilder.

Dam you guys, I'm trying to get out of cardio and you all have good reason not to stop doing it.. (stomps feet lol) :D

blows my mind guys train every muscle but the muscle that keeps them alive

You can train the muscle that keeps you alive by doing intense weight training.

True , when i lift its ON . I take enough time between sets for my training partner to go then im up . Sometimes we take a bit more time but mostly its go and go .

I am still doing cardio but dropped it to 20 minutes 4 days a week instead of 30 5 day a week . When i start prep i didnt want to have to go right to 45 minutes to get results so now i should be able to up my cardio to 30 minutes and get some results then up it again once i hit a wall per say

I disagree weight training and cardio where you keep your heart rate at X BPM are different adaptations.

20mins 4x a week (walking) has my BP down 20pts and recovery inbetween sets (especially legs) much improved at my highest bodyweight ever. Bloodwork also has shown it to lower my cholesterol too. I'll keep doing it.

Hiit cardio 3x week on off days. Could be the bike, could be the rope in plank into tire flips. I like to keep it fresh so I don't get bored
