Cream of rice in a shake?

With my work schedule one of my meals is a shake with pb and oatmeal. Has anyone ever tried cream of rice in a shake? I thought about using that instead of oats to get nothing, but extra carbs. Fats should slow down the absorption rate. Thoughts or input? Appreciate the feedback!

It works just fine. I just use rice and blend it in as opposed to spending extra on cream of rice but either one has the same result- blend well. I prefer oats myself and don't blend or cook them- just let them soak in the shake for several hours or overnight.

I’ve done this before and it’s fkn awesome. Blend up rice cakes and mix them in your shake. Will be super thick.

I’ve used 1/2 cup white rice flour in my protein shakes for years

@weighthead1, Cream of rice is readily available in grocery stores. But, you can just just grind up some rice until it's in powder form. If you have a Vitamix (dry container), you can easily use that to grind rice. HTH

i'd like black rice with nuts and oats sometime add some protein

Cream of rice is extremely high glicemic and best used Pre-Workout or Post-Workout.

I just use it at these 2 specific times. If used Pre-Workout i ALWAYS add a source of good fat.

I don't think the glycemic index really matters to a certain point. I see a lot of guys eating grits, cream of wheat, and one guy eats mainly nothing but cream of rice during his prep. Adding protein would help slow down the absorption rate as well.

Cream of Rice will work just and is actually quite delicious. Grits work well here too.

It depends on the context:

For fatloss, it matters because you want to keep your insulin as low as possible to burn as much fat as possible.

If you trying to bulk up it doesn't make a lot of difference but surely you will pack more fat.

I would say, limit cream of rice to pre and post workout.

Correct but this is nullified when adding another macro in such as protein or fats.

I use Gerber rice for infants mixed with protein and instant coffee pre.

I've used Cream of Rice in my shakes a few times (uncooked). It tends to settle fast at the bottom of the cup and frequent shaking/stirring was required to keep it in suspension. I thought about cooking it and then blending it in a shake but the volume would be too much.
