They're attempting to mainstream kaatsu / blood flow restriction training.

Many Questions

Aloha,

Been around all different types of training and conditioning for all sports and as a coach and participant. Not buying this literally:headbang:

I understand the premise around this, however I need to see scientific studies that document the structural development of all the factors that are needed for sports competitors, besides bodybuilding.

A hui ho,
V

There isn't any substitute for the stimulus of heavy weight resistance training. The muscle has to be damaged and then rebuild. They say this stimulates the body to produce growth hormone etc, but it isn't going to substitute for that.

I'm your test rat on this.

I have been using B-strong blood flow restriction training cyclicly for 6 months now.I am now 55 and days of competition powerlifting and bodybuilding are 20 years+ behind. Those super heavy traing periods were great and I survived injury free before retiring from competiton.I now face what most of us my age or older do in the way of aches and pains.B-strong has allowed me to have heavy traning cycles where gains are made and then deload the joints and connective tissue for a number of weeks to allow them to recover with almost no strengh loss coming back to heavier load training. The cool thing in their system is being able to adjust and control the pressure and not just guessing if you are restricting blood flow because you don't want to stop blood flow. The system and trainjng protocols are used by the U.S. Olympic Team.I was skeptical but I am now a believer. It is not much more expensive than a good growth hormone and will benefit the user for many years. With a discount code cost was $360.Definately worth it to me.

Your approach seems logical. I can see the theory behind using it intermittently as a type of active rest for recovery. I just couldn't get on board with using this method exclusively. Agree with these guys that you need to push some heavier weights regularly to continue to make quality gains.

I think Mr.Bob's use of the product is very interesting and makes a lot of sense. I can see doing that perhaps.
