Antivirus anti malware advice

In need of a new computer because current one if corrupted. I spend $100/ yr on An upgraded Norton antivirus and still my computer got a virus(s) that hass made it basically unusable. Any suggestions on an antivirus/ anti malware program would be appreciated. Lost faith in Norton.

I'm very happy with "Bitdefender free edition" and "Malwarebytes Pro" I haven't had any problems at all with these two.

Ccleaner and spybots, also AVG all keep my computer running great. Use free versions.

look into vpns...there are some pretty cheap ones, try privateinternetaccess.com

instead of a new computer ..reinstall windows ...I have had several viruses over the years ..I just reloaded windows..all but one time..the fucker fried my motherboard ...
now my rule of thumb is .any downloaded audio book or movie..if VLC wont play it ..I trash it

no anti virus will keep you from getting virus'. they can only help so much. I have been in this industry for a long time and have never used a personal anti virus program and yet I have never gotten a virus. I have run into a bit of malware but malwarebytes takes care of that easily.

I say use Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes and if you suspect something boot into safe mode, and run both of those along with RogueKiller

I used ESET Node 32 Antivirus on all of my personal and work computers. From Windows XP to Windows 8. Uses the least of mount of power to run. It will not dog you computer down like Norton. Currently running on over 20 PC's that I take car off.

Bitdefender Total Security 2014 & Bullguard Internet Security 2014 are good alternatives. I use Kaspersky because it includes SafeMoney.
