Cynomel for my fiance

Hello again....I have a question...I've been trying to read up on women taking cynomel but I really haven't found much info. My fiance now wants to take cynomel after seeing that I've lost 6 pounds in 7 days....I read on one site that women should not go up to 100mg that men normally take....it said that she should take 50mg max...starting at 1/2 a pill working her way up to 2 then going back down to 1/2. It sounds like a safe way for her to take it....any info would greatly be appreciated. She's 5' tall and as far as her weight (guys should know better than to ask their girl that but at least i tried)
I would guess between 135-150.

The first thing I'd do is have a blood test to determine her TSH levels.
If she's hypothyroid, then you want a doc to correct this.

If she uses T3 (cytomel) on her own, I'd start with 12.5 mg/day. She's going to need to keep her protein intake up, and workout. T3 will simply raise her metabolic rate, and you don't want her to lose muscle by just taking excess T3 without training and protein to help conserve lean body mass.

All in all, I'd recommend not doing this. She can probably achieve the fat loss she desires with aerobic first thing in the morning before eating anything, using lots of green tea, eating low-glycemic carbs, and working out with weights 3-4 times weekly. It'll be a bit slower perhaps, but much healthier. Even using T3, you don't want someone her size losing more than a pound or so a week average, and you want that loss to be fat. 100 mg/day is way too much!

Like I said in the other reply, read those two threads first that I mentioned.
You and her don't need drugs. Learn how to diet and train properly first. Then years down the track, after you havebeen doing everything properly and then you get stuck in your results, THEN consider drugs.
Unless she has a blood test and it shows that her thyroid is not functioning properly, she doesn't need it.

the last thing you want to do is ruin her current thryroid by shutting it down.

You do not want to use her as a test dummy...make sure you take the next 6+ months to train and lose things natually. Stay far far far away form the drugs...take the next 6+ months while you diet to learn more...but until then, do not use any drugs.

yes easier said than done, but if you mess her up now, you will not be happy the rest of your life.

I'm not using her as a test dummy...I am currently taking cynomel (I'm in the middle of my third week on...so if anyone is a test dummy it's me and I cant stop taking it without scaling it down which I start scaling down next week). So far I've lost 10 pounds since I started which was on 3/7/05. I was weighing at 274 and I'm only 5'7'' tall. She's the one that's insisting that she gets on cynomel as well. I'm just trying to do research on the effects on women.

Before I started taking cynomel I have been going to the gym about 4 times a week doing about 90 mins of cardio and light weight training after cadio. I only lost about 4 pounds in over 12 weeks. My diet is fairly healthy IMO and I dont see why if I'm doing so much cardio and eating faily low cals why I'm not losing at a faster rate.
I'm eating about 6 times a day.
*Breakfast 1 cup cereal w/1%milk, yogurt
*Snack 2 boiled eggs 1 peanut butter whole wheat sandwich
*Lunch 1 whole wheat wrap with 2 slices low sodium ham/turkey or chicken salad with carb options ranch dressing. Diet soda
*Snack 1 string chesse, apple, grapes
*Dinner 2 Chicken Brests, Salad with Balsamic Vinigar or Carb Options ranch, mixed vegetables
*Snack 1%milk with sugar free nestle quick Sometimes I'll eat a smartone ice cream snack.
Basically I eat the same thing every day....except for dinner which I eat salmon or some sort of red meat throughout the week. Meats are cooked with a tiny bit of olive oil...vegetables are steamed with one teaspoon of margerine added. I add no salt.
Our wedding is in December so pretty much I have about 7 months to get down from 264 which I'm at now to as low as I can get my weight in that time. I think at 220-230 I'll be happy.

Why ask?

Why ask for advice if you're obviously not going to follow it?

Everyone who's replied to yuor post has advized you against either you or your girl using CYTOMEL, yet you come back with reasons why you should, and a statement that you're going to any way.

Good luck - I know I'm done here.

Are you taking relatively accurate BF measurements?

My guess is, from your size, and your diet, that you are probably losing an equal (OR MORE - as I did) amount of muscle. This only means you are dropping weight on the scale. When you reach your goal (bodyweight), you'll have just as high a BF as you did at at 274 but a WHOLE LOT LESS MUSCLE

Wow incredible how you think I'm not listening to the advice given to me...I unfortunatly cannot stop taking cynomel since I have already reached the half point of the cycle. I've read on many websites that stopping mid cycle can mess me up for good. I can only cycle down and maintain going to the gym and keep eating healthy. I've spoken to my fiance on many occassions about what advise has been given to us here on this site but she still insists. I'm going to try to convince her to go the natural route.
I really do appreciate the advice....this will be the last time I use cynomel.

As far as accurate BF measurements I'm not too sure....the scale that I have has some sort of electrical measurement thing where it sends some sort of current through the body to check BF%. When I first used it (about 13 weeks ago) it would say 40% BF at a weight of 274. Now it's measuring between 35%-37% at a weight of 262-264. I also have my fiance do my body measurements about once a week...she measures chest, stomach, biceps, quads, calves, neck, waist. There hasn't been any decrease in muscle yet....or at least I hope there hasn't been. Since biceps, quads, calves have not had loss in inches. There has been a decrease of inches in chest, stomach, waist and neck. Neck measurements went down about 1/2 inch....everything else was about 1 inch off each.

As far as diet...do you think it's ok for weight loss yet still feed muscle growth? I need to find a good muscle training routine to follow. I'm doing some muscle training...but very sloppy.
I'm just getting into muscle training which is something I've negleted do to just doing cardio...more muscle = burn more calories. Didn't really know that till recently.
4sets of 15reps abs @ 95 pounds each day
Biceps I'm doing 4 sets of 15reps (not sure how much weight I think I'm doing 60 lbs
Triceps 4 sets of 15reps (not sure how much weight)
Calves (I'm not working on them yet...they are huge I'm trying to see if with weight loss they can get smaller.)
Quads (also not working them but I should)
Really that's all I do...as far as muscle training.
I do mostly cardio. 45-60 mins on the rowing machine....45-60 mins on the eliptical machine. Average Calories Burned is 210-310 rowing and 450-500 on eliptical machine...I maintain a log of calories burned daily.

I just read your diet. Do you honestly believe that anyone can lose fat with a diet like that???
Go to the Article's forum and read the Getting Ready for Competition thread written by me. Look at the diet there. Compare that with yours.
That diet will make you lose fat expeditiously. Your diet will make you small but still be just as fat.

The electric scales are a scam. You can eyeball the fat percentage better than they can tell you how much it is.

Yes, you finish the T3 now, since you have done the silly (I am being nice) thing and used it. Just pray that you are not losing too much muscle. All the weight gain that you are experiencing is muscle loss, not fat loss, as without steroids presents, T3 burns up all your muscle.
Then, after you are done, don't touch it again until you are stuck after you have been dieting PROPERLY for a long time.

And now tell your girl to stop being lazy and looking to the easy way out to do things, because that will screw up her health long run.
She should learn to diet properly. She should not have a hard time losing a lot of fat because she is carrying a lot of fat. T3 is only to be used once you are in the single digits bodyfat wise and you get stuck.
Do you guys think that looking good (lean and muscular) is easy? It will probably be the hardest thing that you have done in your lives.
If she is not willing to do the above (work hard and forget the T3), then just go get her some coke. She will lose weight even quicker with that that with the T3. She'll wreck her health, but obviously she's not concerned about that.

Sounds harsh, but it's the truth. Both of you should take a good long hard look at what I wrote, and believe it or not, everyone that wrote in this thread is looking out for your health and is trying to make you two see it.

And go read that thread that I mentioned.

From my experience with well conditioned women with good diet, and training that used t3 they were not happy with the results. They lost muscle and it srcewed around with thier other hormone levels to much. I seen women really mess up thier appearance. By this I mean one week they wouild look really good on it, flat another week, or bloated another. There was no consistent look while they were on it and thier mood really suffered. Its not a good choice for women in my opinion.

Thank you guys...talk about a slap in the face....here I was thinking that I was starting out ok....but in reality I'm heading backwards. The article was great Big A. After doing that for 9 weeks what kind of diet should I stick with. Would it be ok to go back to what I'm eating now? Sorry for all the questions

This forum is for asking question :)

Eating is part the bodybuilding "lifestyle." When you have more muscle, your body needs proper calories to support it - otherwise don't expect it to stay around. I'm 52 and ~200 lbs - if I were to eat what you described, I'd LOSE MUSCLE  ;)

Yeah, it was a slap in the face. If you hang out her for a while you'll see that most of the guys (and gals) here are so smart it's unbelievable. And although it may seem like a slap in the face, it's just because they want you to go about it the right and healthy way. And when someone (obviously new to this arena) comes on the board saying that they are 265lbs 35-40%BF and using T3, it just seems like an accident waiting to happen. And the accidents just put us ALL that much further behind.

And just about all questions can be answered by using the search option on the board.

As for T3, search the board for an article by Raver
