Androgel

My son has normal testosterone (518), FSH, LH, and estradiol levels, but the endocrinologist detected a hypothalamus problem. He is prescribing him Androgel for 3-6 months. He has great nutrition and weight trains 4 times per week. Despite improving his mood and increasing libido, what other effects should he expect? Will he get noticably stronger or see an increase in weight/muscle mass? Aggression? What else should he expect?

If this helps, he anticipates testosterone to increase to the 800 range.

If it works so well, he can expect atrophied nuts and possibly gyno. Is he taking an AI or anti-e? How's his workout program? How old is he?

He is 19, 6', 170lbs, maybe 18% bf. The doc said that there aren't side effects such as testicular shrinkage or atrophy.

Workout program:

Monday: Chest/Back
Wednesday: Legs
Friday: Shoulders

All exercises 6-8 reps, 3 sets.

Current weights:

Squat: 225x6
Bench: 60x8 dumbell
Deadlift: 185x8
His back is weakest, he can do 1-2 unassisted pullups.

Nutrition:
3500 calories/day, mostly food, 1-2 shakes/day
250-350g protein
60-80g fat, minimizing sat fat
300-400g carbs

Supps:
CEE, Whey Protein, Multivitamin

Goal is a reasonably cut 200lbs.

I read a clinical study on Androgel. Equal #s of hypogonadal men under 45, 45-65, and over 65.

Here were the results after 90 days (no statistical difference at beginning of trial), receiving 50mg/day T gel in 5g gel (gel is 1% T, 10mg/g).

arm/chest strength +2.6+/-.7kg
total body mass +.39+/-.32kg
lean body mass +1.28+/-.32kg
fat mass -.90+/-.32kg
%body fat -1.0+/-.3%

Since this is for men much older than he is, they weren't on a regimented workout and nutrition plan, and they had far lower test levels, should he expect gains much greater than this?

depends on what his dose is...chances are that the doc will have him fairly low dose so, should not expect any sides...He will be in the High normal range
most kids at that age should be, so should not be any issues...testicular atrophy Is gonna be the only one I can possibly imagine, but thats easy enuff to deal with...Xcel is the man with that issue!!
