I am 33yo 5-10 205lbs, and I have been told everthing from 1 gram of protein per 1 pound of bodyweight, but some say the body wont use that much and it is wasted....any help???
 
It depends on what the rest of your diet looks like, total calories, macronutrient breakdown etc.

Post up your full diet, training plan, etc. and we can give you better advice.
 
I always try to get 1-2grams of protein per pound of bodyweight.

From my personal experience, I grow the best when I do that.......

The key is to spread it out and not get it all in one, short timeframe!

Yeah, I would say if you want to see noticeable, sizeable gains, eat your body weight in protein every day. IE, I weigh 175 lbs, I eat about 170-180 grams of protein everyday.
