Money's tight right now and I'm used to going out to eat all of my meals but now have to cut back on my $40 a day diet.

Can any of you guys post your current diet (list of meals) so I can get some ideas of some cheap yet tasty/healthy meals.

Not competing anytime soon so Im currently trying to slowly put on size while stay lean in the meantime.

Thanx

$40 X 7 days= $280 X 4 weeks= $1120 per month, and you are trying to cut back?

When you live in Oklahoma and the average wage is $10/hr (I know, Pathetic), being able to spend $40 on food per day is a luxury

Apparantley you don't think so:D

I've had to cut back on everything (powders, lba's, etc.) so was just hoping to get an idea of some of your diets so I can help maintain during these rough times

Sorry, I was using sarcastic humor. I can feed myself, my wife, my 2 children, and my mother-in-law for less than that a month. Maybe you need to work on your budget? If you need suggestions, ask.

I think you can eat quite well on $40.00 per day. Especially if you're not eating junk. Stick with the basics and plan your meals out for the week. If possible buy in bulk, you can usually save a litte cash that way. Honestly, you can eat high quality meals at home for a hell of a lot less than what your spending to eat out all the time. plus, you know exactly what you're eating, macros, everything. You may want to check out the recips forum for ideas. Good luck to ya.

Tuna and Bananas! -StOrY

can't do tuna.............sucks but it makes me gag (bad experience:D)

But I do the chicken breast, baked potatoe thing.............just looking for more of a variety I guess.

Can't cook worth shit (cause I've never had to) so it's hard preparing food for myself that has more flavor than cardboard.

I guess I'll check out the PM recipes board

Any ideas on cheap supps to maintain on?? thanx

buy a blender.
Put in tuna, add water from tap. hold your nose and chug.

i get the idea you asking what kinds of foods can you buy that taste good and are cheap?

Whey, LBA's, multi's, Go to a place like Costco or Sam's club and buy things in Bulk, like fruit, meat, pasta. rice, potatoes, olive oil, etc. You can feed yourself very well off 1/2 that money. You need to learn how to cook, or get a girlfriend that can, don't eat out at restaurants, that can very expensive.

Learn to cook and prepare your meals at home. You'll be eating healthier and better. Eating restaurant food and eating clean is very difficult not to mention much more expensive.

You guys are crazy! I definitely agree with Pesty. I survive on 15 dollars a day MAX. I HAVE to due to college. Tuna, fruits, fruit juices, chicken, milk, eggs, it can be done easy.

The reason you were spending so much is BECAUSE you were eating out for every meal....also not to mention most places that you eat out at probably were not using high quality meats and most meals at restaurants are loaded with bad fats and sodium.

Half gallon of milk, 4 bananas, 2 cans of tuna, 3 chicken breasts, 1 dozen eggs, container of oj.

That's all right at about $15 bucks and I would have food left over if I tried to use that all in one day. I'm on Phil's diet though so I only eat when hungry...so I'm at a constant 6-7 meals a day though.

Never said it couldnt be done, what I meant to say is that because my hours were cut I wouldn't be able to eat like I used to and have my meals cooked for me and always pick and choose what I wanted to eat.

Instead of the $40 or so I was able to spend on food and supps per day, I now have more less cut that in half.

Like you, Im busy as hell and don't have the luxury of cooking all the time and was just asking for some suggestions on how and what you guys and eat

Yeah I'm definitely busy to man. I have pre med classes, plus my 3 hours of studying a day, volunteer work, morning cardio, afternoon workout and then a part-time job also.

I find it doable by pre cooking everything the night before or the morning of.

penutbutter is cheap and has lots of calories/good fats.

bread is also cheap. throw in protein powder also .

Wow, I can't have peanut butter nor bread in my diet. MAN a peanut butter sandwich sounds good right now! Hahaha

yo man, buy a blender! stock your freezer with frozen fruit, and make up some smoothies. I train under Phil too so I only eat when hungry as well. what i usually do is cook up a few pounds of ground chicken, or lean beef, or turkey, portion it, and go from there for my meals.

Striated:

Eating in versus eating out does not have to take a lot of tiime or effort. You can also prepare multiple meals. I eat in more now so I am not as tempted to "go off the reservation". I can grill salmon/chicken and have salad or sauteed broccoli, or grilled vegetables prepared in 20 minutes.

Typically if I am grilling dinner, I will also grill salmon burgers, or tuna burgers for lunch the next day as well.

Preparing mulitple portions helps with time. On Sunday, I typically will prepare my food for at least three days. I also sip an LBA mixture most of the day.

Getting in the habit of taking time to slow down, decompress, and learn to prepare healthful meals will be good for you in long run. Anyone can cut back when they are forced to, a key to long term wealth is to cut back before you are forced to.

Good Luck

Since starting this thread I've gone out and stocked the fridge, freezer and pantry and only eatin out once:)

My cooking is still not on point but I've been experimenting a bit and have come up with a few decent tasting meals. (mainly with chicken breast strips)

I still need to clean up some bad habits but I've accomplished my goal of not overspending when it comes to food.

I just hope I can keep it up.

Thanks for all the advice guys.
