Hey, did a search but couldn't find an answer directly to grip. I'm going to start doing ONLY dips for my tri's and chest.

So how do you guys grip hands for dips?

For chest?

For tri's?

More specifically like do you guys wrap your thumbs around, grip the bar on the palm of your hand or more in the pocket?

yeh

theres only so many ways u can hold the bars, from what ive experienced and others at my gym, ive just used the old technique of if ur workin chest lean as forward as possible, tris, keep your back straight. also for ur chest i think i found this to work better. go all the way down as u can, and come up only about half way, and go back down, it keeps constant tension on the chest, and if u want more of a workout throw some ballz on between ur legs. i normally use just a 45 lb weight.

I wrap around mine like it's a bar, and for chest lean forward as much as I can w/ good form.
For tris, I just stay straight as I can and go down.
You should also remember close grip, it's the king of close grip movements.
J/w, what made you decide to do only dips for both of these? You can PM me if you want.

i think you are getting to technical with the thumb thing. For tris i make sure my elbows stay close to my sides and back. For chest I flip the handles to the widest position, lean forward and let my elbows go out instead of back. Go for the feel. You should feel the difference if you do them correctly. If you don't then you need to change something.

if you weigh down your dips dont go to low on the bottom part of the move it will put great strain on your shoulders...as said above bending forward will stress the pecs more...partial dips are a great way to fry the triceps :) ...alex
