Does anyone have some links to some articles about these?

I can go to Google but I don't trust half the links it brings up. I searched all over the board but could find anything comparing the two side by side as to why bodybuilders would prefer one over the other.
 
The short and easy answer is Insulin manipulation. Sugary carbs tend to illicit a sharp rise in insulin production. This can lead to fat storage. The slower more complex carbs tend to not do this and are better utilized over time by the body as a constant stream of energy and glycogen replenishment for the muscle.
 
Studies suggest that simlpe carbs cause a faster and higher spike and fall of insulin levels than complex carbs. Additionally these studies suggest that the sharper fall related with simple carbs may be connected to and have a direct impact on your hunger cravings.

damn bro good answer! the only time you want to illicit a sharp rise in insulin is post workout, to blunt the effect of cortisol and to shuttle nutrients to muscle faster.
