taking traps out of delt work

i think my traps are taking alot of work from my delts when i do barbell shoulder presses and even laterals. i tried lightening up the laterals, even going back down to 25s and 30s but its still feels like my traps are getting more pumped than my delts. Has anyone else had this problem and know any way to keep your traps out of delt movements?

Thats funny.. cause i never thought of side laterals hitting my traps until i read this thread and simulated the movement.. The only exercise i can think of for side lats without hitting the traps would be side laterals done lying on a bench on your side.. That should keep most of the work on the side lat head.. For other exercises i would say mind muscle control.. Only think about your side laterals while doing the exercise.. Block out any thought of your trap muscle while doing the exercise..

You can try cables or machines.

Think of relaxing and "sinking" your traps during shoulder movements.

i do side laterals with dumbells like most but i grab a hold of something and lean to the side i am lifting with, this seems to focus mostly on side lateral and not as much in trap
