In simple terms, how can I explain to someone the difference between milk and whey without getting overly technical. Thanks

How I explained it to them is that milk comes from a cow and whey comes from human hands in a controlled setting/lab. To make it sound simple.

Is this better way to say it. Whey is compared to lemonade on how it is made. We use a lemon to squeeze at lemonade, and use milk to squeeze at whey if that makes any sense. Sorry I had a tough time to explaining it to one of my clients. I will leave this topic alone now and stop posting.

Now that sounds about spot on. And when making lemonade you add sugar making whey you add AF.

Milk is compromised of two proteins.. Casein and Whey... Milk protein is a combo of both and Whey is just one segregated part..

Milk is curdled to make Cheese... The casein stays in the cheese and the liquid byproduct is the whey.

This is the correct answer
In short tell your friend that whey comes from milk it is the protein in milk that is as simple as it gets.

But the above explanation is spot on. Also in case many did not know. The clearish liquid at the top of yoghurt is all whey! Pure and plain. Do not pour it out, mix it back in or pour into a glass and drink it. :D
