How many days sore for after squats?

I just did legs the other day for the 1st time in a loooong time, and I've been in pain ever since.. You guys know what I'm talking about, walking up stairs and feeling like your thighs are bruised from actually falling down a flight of steps, haha..

But once you get back into the routine, how many days do you guys typically feel it for? Cuz it's been over 48 hrs now, and I definitely still feel it.

After a good leg day, im typically sore for up to 4 days LOL. But thats just me. and i use relatively low volume.. as in 2 work sets.

Something that I find odd - I weigh myself daily since I'm trying to put some lbs on.. My weight has been going up steadily, but slowly - not much more than a pound a week.. Anyways, the day after I did legs, I was nearly 2 lbs heavier and I've kept the weight since.. And no, it wasn't food or anything like that, cuz I weighed myself throughout the past couple days to check..

I'm wondering if since I haven't done legs in so long, that really hammering with that workout that they took up a bunch of fluid or something to start building up?

well i suppose its plausible... although, im not sure fluid would stay built up for a prolonged period of 48 hours... and definitely not 2 lbs of it.

happens to me too. I would think more glycogen being stored in ur legs and the fluid that comes with it.

^ I'd think so too. I can't relate weight wise, but measurement wise, after being away for a while, like 2-3 weeks, my legs shrink ~2"... but after just 1 workout, they're back exactly where they were. And I don't lose any strength during that off period either, so I think it's just glycogen.

usually 3 days after a nutty routine. why have you been skipping on legs anyways?

I just started working out again regularly a few months ago, and I just kept putting legs off.. I will say I woke up this morning (3 days), and they're not nearly as sore.. I can still feel it a little, but I can squat down again now without feeling like I'm injured, lol.

Usually for me it takes a good 48 hours to recover. It used to be much longer but after I did the Bill Starr routine squating 3x's a week a few years ago, my legs seem to recover much quicker only hitting them twice a week at most. Plus my volume is low as my legs are about as big as I can allow them to get without throwing my look way out of proportion.

I've been weighing myself consistently over the last 2 weeks.... gradual increase from 210 to 213. Yesterday, I did legs, and today I'm weighing in at 217. I always weigh myself at the same time (in the morning, after I've gone to the bathroom and before breakfast), too. Now, you've gotten me curious about fluid buildup after leg workouts. I don't think I've ever weighed this before. eep! I just have to keep my shit tight 'else I turn into a fat bastard. That's not good for business.

It totally seems like the case IMO. Cuz there's nowhere else I could have put on 2 lbs that quick. And like I was saying, it wasn't food or fluid in my system, cuz after weighing myself multiple times since, I still have the extra weight..

And also, just feeling my quads, they feel fuller and denser than before.

I recently ( the past year ) started doing cardio after lifting to keep the
gut from overtaking my chest and noticed that a good 20 - 30 minutes on the
treadmill right after a leg workout actually reduced the pain and stiffness that
usually follows the next day or two.
I thought maybe the increased activity helped pump more blood through the muscles and clear some of the lactic acid - I could be wrong but it seems to help.

So I did my leg exercise again for the 2nd time (8 days later), and my legs were not NEARLY as sore the next day. I judge the pain on walking up stairs, which I do quite a few times a day, and I usually jog up the stairs.. Well after that 1st leg workout, for a solid 3 days I really felt some serious soreness just walking up the stairs, and definitely couldn't jog up.. But after the 2nd workout, even the day after, I could easily jog up the stairs..

Usually it's 2 days later after doing legs is when the soreness really hits!
