Changing the pin...

In your guys' opinion, do you ABSOLUTELY have to change the needle between drawing out, and injecting? (ie. draw fluid from vial, replace needle, inject) as apposed to draw fluid from vial, inject. (obviously first swabbing the top of the vial with alcohol, as well as cleaning your injection site.

I have always changed the needle, but am just recently wondering if its even worth it, if youre completely sanitary. Opinions?

Needles come pre-sterilized and the Isopropyl alchol you use to wipe your rubber stopper with does not kill many different bacteria strains, so it is not should one? it is a must for ones health on safety stand point alone.

concur with all of the above...draw with 18g shoot with 23g.

I agree. It isn't worth the extra pain/risk to be stingy. Always change pins between drawing and injecting

Alright, thanks guys. will continue to change pins. I actually draw with the same size needles. I only use 25 g. I find no problem. I find, that when using a 25, you are forced to inject more slowly.

I would also like an answer to the question steele asked. i end up wasting a lot of perfectly good syringe bodies.

No, syringe is not saved for next(inject) or (vial draw) all are disgarded after use. All three components go into a sharps container.

Why would you use a different syringe to withdraw with?

In case I misunderstand the question, withdraw with the same syringe you shoot with, just change the needle, and by all means disgard after 1 use.

When you aspirate you may pull fluid from your body into the syringe, contaminating the syringe "not sterile anymore". I Wouldn't chance it. They are dirt cheap.

I only use a syringe once but also draw and inject with the same pin. It doesn't hurt.

I used to use just one but now I draw with a larger pin and shoot with a smaller one. needle stays sharper also. That was the main thing I noticed. Toss all 3 after.
