Hi Guys

I have the potential opp to work in the USA for around 2-4 years within my career sector (IT)

I have the choice of working in any of the large states, and thus wanted to get an idea on which is the best area to look for.
Now i know this is a broad question; but I didnt know where to start!

Id also want to know about salary and standard of living. Im not asking what salary expectations to have...as I pretty much know that. I wanted to know what X amount would give me in terms of standard of living.

We are probably looking to rent a house \ apartment and im aware of costs for that.

Broad I know...but didnt know where to start!

Northern Louisiana

In Northern Louisiana, it's probably about as cheap as you'll find it. You can buy houses in the Monroe/West Monroe area (and I mean very nice houses/new constructions) in restricted areas starting in the $130's and going all the well into the $250's range. And at that price, you have yourself one hell of a house! A house that sells for, say, $124,000 here would go for closer to $155,000 or better in Shreveport/Bossier, and probably over $200,000 in the Atlanta, GA area. I am basing this on what I have seen personally. I am not a real estate agent nor do I work in any related industry (well, I mow a few yards on the side). I just notice things like this. Don't know if I have been of any help, but good luck with your searching!
