Ok guys , heres whats up . I have been offered the chance to open 3 smoothie/juice /supplement bars in Golds Gym in my area . I have never been in this type of business but I have been doing my research . I have priced equipment , supplies , everything I can think of . I have even gone to a few juice bars at other gyms and talked to them and I also spoke to the owner of a local supplement chain . I have gotten 80 % positve feedback from people but that lat 20% worries me . Here is what I was gonna sell ...Smoothies of course , protein and juice , supplements which I have no territory restrictions on except I cant sell ABB drinks . For the morning I was gonna do coffee , espresso , bagels , fruit , and I was also going to sell some simple chicken salad,tuna salad sandwiches and grilled chicken wraps . I also looked into a frozen yogurt machine and doing 2 flavors of Only 8 yogurt (32 cal. per 4 oz. no fat , no sugar ) .
Give me your opinions if you think it is a good business idea ......Thanks everyone

Go for it...

That would do very well in my Golds. Plenty of people train in the morning before work and would likely get a healthy breakfast on the way out. Also many people train on thier lunch hour and would get something at the smoothie bar. I would make damn sure to get a written agreement so that they couldn't take over your business and toss you out. Best of luck.

AS a gym owner myself and seller of proteins and such I think it's a great idea! How much does Golds want for rent etc? This is where you will need to be careful. Landlords are notorious at jacking up rents when they see you potentially making good money. All landlords are greedy. They are not happy with making good returns on their investments and when some one becomes successful they want a piece of their action. Make sure your deal/lease/agreement has a clause for modest rent increases and not a I'm doubling your rent at the end of your contract type of arrangement. Outside of this it is a great money earner and lots of fun! Go for it!! Good luck.

Which Gold's are you talking about? I have seen the ones in Ahwatukee and Gilbert change ownerships/formats a million times. It seems like a good idea from a theoretical perspective, but for some reason they never seem to do well. I don't know if it is poor marketing or just that most bodybuilders are cheap sons of bitches, lol.

They have a juice bar at the Golds in Henderson where i train. It does a decent business, but nothing special.

The first one would be Ahwatukee , then Gilbert , then Mesa . The rent is cheap . You pay full price for first location , half for second , third there is no rent .
