hey everyone im 21 years old and im in love with money -- im thinking about going down the real estate road - perhaps getting my sales license. My old man also owns a few rental buildings so i was thinking about later in life branching off to property management and eventually getting a brokers license. i love real estate. im also kicking around the idea of getting into a community college - but i cant think of any good majors that im interested in. Is anyone experienced w/ the real estate game have any advice. Is it worth it? trying to go from sales--->broker - anyways feel free to put in your 2 cents. thanks

Hey kid... have you seen the real estate market right now? Not trying to discourage you or anything, but there are a lot of starving agents out there. Do some research on your own... call a couple of realtors and ask if they are hiring? How many agents are on staff? How many houses are on the market and how many they have sold this month? You can tell them you are doing a research project for your college class. Check out the news reports about the housing market.

Definitely check out your community college. Look at a general business degree then after some classes you might find something you are interested in... maybe finances, stock market, accounting, bank, etc. If you are still interested in real estate then your business degree will fall right in line with this too.

The good thing about what you are interested in is that you can always buy up property one piece at a time as you start making money. Once you comfortable enough to quite your job and do it full time, then go for it. I had a friend who was an appliance repair man. It was his own business, but he decided he didn't want to do that any more. Now he is a starving real estate agent, but at least he has his appliance repair to get by on until the market come back to life...

I don't like to kill any one's dreams. You might just have to put them off for a while. ;)
