O/T Anyone know about jewelry/appraisal value?

I got a ring in a trade about 3years ago. Its a platinum band and 1karat total. Round cut in the center(1/2karat) and 3 diamonds running down each side(totals 1/2karat) Anyway it originally appraised at 5k. Its being re appraised now and the place buys used jewelry. What should i expect to get. Im presuming it will appraise at close to 5k since its only been 3 years and the ring is in great shape but I dont wanna get screwed on the offer, so im wondering if anyone knows whats average to expect? Thank you.

I've found that you won't get shit from used jewelry, especially wedding jewelry. The market is set for buying new. You can try to sell it privately to an individual though. That might work out best.

if it was appraised for 5g's then you can expect to get a lot less for it because the jeweler is gonna try to make a profit

Try Ebay, like trainwreck said, buying it and selling it are two different things. Years ago I owned a check cashing place where we bought used gold. We paid like pennies on the weight of the item. The purity had nothing really to do with it. We put it on the scale and told them what it weighed and they got nothing really for their years of memories. Best bet is to sell it privately.

Yah i'll find out tomorrow. If it appraises at 5 i'll take 2 at the lowest otherwise i'll sell it on ebay or craigslist.
