New Computer Maintenance/Adware/Antivirus advice...

Ok i pretty much beat the hell out of my last 2 computers with limewire music and porn lol. Hey im honest. What can i do in the future to prevent this from tearing apart my new computer? I will be using I-Tunes from now on and i dont download porn anymore since my gf hates it haha. Which programs are the best for protection against this? I think i read about F-Secure? Ad-Aware? SpyWareDoctor?

I usually recommend F-Secure but the last revision makes machine hang and slows them down a bit. I would recommend Kaspersky's Labs at this point as their scan engine is one of the three engines that F-Secure uses and it is the most responsive of most of the scanners out there. It will do spyware, malware and other protection without the need for another product.

Yeah, and it's only the newest version that acts that way. They are aware of it and they are working to correct the problem. It all has to do with their rootkit portion of the scanner supposedly. Either way I wont be using it until they fix their problems. Kaspersky's Labs from Russia is AVP, which is the most used and most accurate out of all of the scanning engines within F-Secure anyway. I think you will love the performance from AVP.

God i feel like I am pushign these 2 products but they come in handy for spyware. Download spywareblaster and run it. Do the update, enable all protection after its all updated. Good to go.

Download spybot. When installing be sure to uncheck the box for tea timer and the other checkbox that is next to it. Update the definitions the ones that are alteady checked. Click immunize on the sidebar. Hit immunize, make sure it protecs all of them, run a scan. good to go.
