Steganos, Drivecrypt

I have been using Steganos and I think it works fine. I am no computer expert, but can anyone chime in?

How about DrieCrypt? Anyone using it? Ilove the idea of having to use a password before the computer boots to log in.

Hold the delete key during post and you can pass-protect your pc for free, in the BIOS. Only way around it is to set a overwrite jumper or remove the battery refreshing the CMOS (where the pass and config are stored); either way requires opening the case.
In a laptop, that's a serious headache.

Yes, but that is easy for any hacker to crack. LOL, I took my laptop to my tech guy, I had forgotten my password, and I needed some pics tha were stored. He got them out, easy. So no, that is not an option.

Drivecrypt gives you a much tougher thing to crack.

No it's not. They have to physically open it. I took me 4 shot glasses of organized bolts, and pages of notes to open my laptop after I spilled coffee in it. I still fixed it...

Password to what?
If he removed the hard drive from the laptop hard drive caddy (takes about 10 seconds) and read the drive as a secondary device from a USB adapter, then the OS doesn't need to access the bootloader from that HDD, and doesn't need a password at all.
If the files or directories themselves were not encrypted, then a pass means little.

if you are talking about Steganos Security Suite 2007 then it is good program, with many useful functions, but if you have to handle a lot emails, with different people then PGP desktop much better.
