Slow internet help needed

I have cable internet. About 2 weeks ago, there was a brief interuption in our connection. We called tech support and service was restored. My internet connection to my pc was running slow to none. A tech from the company hooked up his laptop and all is well. My connection is still slow. Ran antivirus, no virus, Ran malware and had a couple of spywares and "removed" them. A recent scan of both and I am clean. However my internet connection is still painfully slow...any ideas?

spyware is the number one cause of this. You sure your software is up to date that it catches all the latest spyware?
spyware sucks be carefull what sites you visit. Porn being the worst.

the pc is about 5 yrs old...Dell. all other parts of the pc opening other programs work fine not slow at all. It's just the internet.

funny I wasn't on any porn sites! i usually don't surf outside my regular stops. I have spybot and have been updating it or looking for updates and running it daily and now i am "clean" but still slow as sh*t

Can i post a website for this guy to test his internet speed without getting in trouble? Please remove this if its not ok.

Go to dslreports.com and click tools, and run the speed test. Let me know your results.

Also download spywareblaster, update the definitions, then enable all protection. It will run in the background and kill spyware before it gets installed.

What antivirus are you running. Let me guess, Norton.

I was actually using AVG anti virus
I'll run that test tomarrow...the pc is at work

I had a similar problem with cable internet. I knew for a fact that my network was tip-top. I had them give me another cable modem and it's been fine every since.
