Did you all know that you can increase the quality of Youtube videos by adding...

...to the end of the address of the video?

Still not as sharp as the original but they look a lot better! It doesn't work for all of them, just the more recently uploaded vids.

hey Mike,
i have tried to upload one of my vid's from my broadcast quality camera (standard definition and is a 3 CCD) and it was WAAAAY too big of a file size. i have not messed with it much since then. any tips on how to get it on youtube??? i will play with it more in a couple weeks but just curious if you have a simple answer or could point me in the right direction..? How long is the clip and how are you compressing it? The size of the file is determined when you export it.

For instance, when I want to create a clip in Final Cut Express I have many options for exporting as a Quicktime movie at various quality levels. I try to find the level of quality that makes my video look good enough (for Youtube) while keeping the file size down to around 30-40 MB for a 2 or 3 minute clip.

Get used to it. Exporting is always a compromise of quality in favor of file size. Even a DVD won't look quite as good as your original material. That's why you need to shoot with as much quality as you can from the get-go. By that I mean use as good lighting and good camerwork as possible.

I want pretty good quality recording with something fairly compact in size.. I want to start recording my training in the gym.. Making short clips.. Then using software to create highlight videos..
