Using a wireless router will not make you anonymous.. If you were using/stealing someone else's wireless signal, that would be anonymous, but that's not the same thing as using your own router..

ur wireless router still gives your ip....aka exactly where you are. now using a public router such as at a college that doesnt require a password would keep you a bit more anonymous.

I do not participate in anything illegal,I just do not like the concept of being categorized by government watchdogs based upon the websites I visit.When they start profiling people as steroid users just because they have a certain type of physique,that is scary stuff.

Tor is good for covering your ip but slow. You could also use anonymous proxies.

No such thing! ALL connections can be traced. Remember, the gov. invented the net. However, the connection that they trace is where the stealth is successful. In other words, when they do trace, the person they end up with shouldn't be you. Catch what I'm saying?

I keep hearing Tor is free, but slows down your computer?

anonymizer.com has a 1 year subscription for$30. Supposed to protect against phishing, pharming, evil twins, not sure what the hell that means?

Hide-the-IP.com is another, 1 yr. $40.

I don't know how any of these work, but I would like to protect my personal information from malicious people, and web sites for whatever reasons.

One Kaspersky forum moderator claims that these type services are nothing but snakeoil? Any comments?

if all you want to do is hide your ip address from the sites you visit then an anonymous proxy is going to do the job.

If you actually wish to be anonymous then internet cafes, and war driving combined with tor are pretty much required.
