I have an old email that I found my old resume on. I saved it to a floppy disc. Opened it and no problem. BUT, when I try to make changes to it, it doesn't allow me to do anything to it. It's like it's locked or something. I looked at my floppy disc and I do have it unlocked. Is there anything I can do in order to get this stupid disc to allow me to make changes to it?

I have my good disc somewhere but can't find it right now. And I need this for monday. Besides retyping 20 years of stuff. hahaha

Any help would be greatly appreciated folks.

Copy it to your local hard drive so you know there is nothing wrong with the disk or the drive first. Floppies are so unreliable.

I opened up the document from the floppy. But it doesn't give me the option to "save as" or even "send to".... Went back to my original email, saved it to my hard drive in documents. But now when I tried to revise it, it says
"This command is not available because the document is locked for edits"

any ideas brother?

Read only?

The file may be marked as "read only". Try right clicking on the file and clicking properties. If the box labeled "read only" is checked, you won't be able to edit the file. Try unchecking it and resave.

Flex, I played around with it a bit and here is what I got. In case anyone else ever gets stuck.

Right clicked on the document, went to properties, changed the setting "open with" from Microsoft word, to, Wordperfect. Not sure why "WORD" wouldn't allow me to make the changes but by simply opening it up under another document reader form, it allowed me to makes changes or add to it.

I just saved myself 20 years of typing. hahahaha thanks a lot to the both of you!
