PLEASE HELP W/ MY CD DRIVE

My CD drive is not working ..or being recognized!

When I insert a cd into the computer nothing happens..nothing pops up..
Then I went to windows media player and when I go to rip it says a cd drive is needed.

So I went to the control panel and clicked on system properties and under cd/dvd rom drives: it has my cd rom device listed so I clicked on it and says

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

I don't know what to do...PLEASE HELP!!!

You probably need a new CD ROM

Try this:

start/run "regedit"

Migrate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}


(That key should be towards the top of the Class list, just look for the "965" within the key name)

If there are values set under that key called:

UpperFilters
LowerFilters

Delete both of those values NOT the whole key.

Go into Device Manager, expand DVD/CD Rom section and right-click all CD/DVD Drives and select "uninstall". Confirm uninstall message, then reboot.

Once rebooted, allow Windows a little time to mount the drives once again, then see if you can access your drives in My Computer.

What eactly fixed it? Just rebooting it?
