This is a delicate question, and I don't know if anyone has brought it up before here.

Since bodybuilding is all about turning your body into something aesthetic, it is a short road to eroticism and in many cases, deny it as you may, to homo-eroticism.

I wonder how you guys deal with such feelings and impulses that may lead you to appreciate and even desire the body of someone else of the same gender.

IMO, appreciating another guy's body is different to sexually desiring it. One does not 'lead' to the other.

Also - if you are not referring to sexual desire there is nothing wrong with desiring another man's body if he has the type of look or physique you are striving achieve.

I have no problem acknowledging that a bro has a good build. That is a far cry from me getting hard over it and wanting to stick my penis in him.

I don't see why admire would need to equal desire.

Well the last time I lifted up a dumbbell, I certainly wasn't thinking about the guys nuts next to me doing squats! And dont think I ever will. That being said I pay guys compliments in the gymm all the time for their hardwork and dedication. Never for their hardons.

Women are about 75% of the reason I train. And I don't know what the other 25% is...

As much as I enjoy training and admire the successful BBer's, I love women and all their glorious parts, even more. They just rule.

I think you mean to say that the aim of bodybuilding is to produce an aesthetically pleasing physique.

Yes that is true. If you are homosexual then ofcourse you will bodybuild with a view to how other (homosexual) men will perceive and admire your physique. If you are heterosexual then your concern will be with how women perceive and admire your body.

Male athleticism is sexual attractive to gay men and heterosexual women. You seem to be forgetting all about heterosexual women.

There is a large yawning chasm between appreciate and desire. A heterosexual, non-bodybuilder can appreciate that Brad Pitt, George Clooney, etc. are good-looking men without also desiring them. You will only sexually desire other men if you are homosexual/bi-sexual. Bodybuilding doesn't give you homosexual tendencies.

I don't care what gender anyone desired, I lift weights because I like the way it makes me feel. Being attractive to women is a nice fringe benefit but I would lift weights if I was stranded on an island and would never again have human contact.

Op: Acknolwedging the hard work of a fellow bodybuilder is not Gay. This sport is about sculping the physique. It's no different than an Artist complimenting the painting of another artist. It sounds like you're worried about this though. Maybe a 'fearless personal inventory' would be in order.

You don't really give enough info to get good responses.

Speaking for myself, I deal with my attraction to the same gender (esp. bodybuilders) with being honest and happy with who I am. I date guys, and I now have a wonderful boyfriend.

It sounds like you need to work through some issues, but ALWAYS be yourself and focus on what is right for YOU (NOT what others want you to be). You only have one life.
