Bloating Question

I have a figure competitor that is going into her final week. For the past 2-3 days, her lower abs have been bloated. Her carb intake consists of 1/2 cup oatmeal, 6 oz. sweet or white potato with the rest of her carbs being raw asparagus and broccocli. Any input is appreciated.
 
Has she had constipation? Try a good colon cleanse. This will get rid of a bunch of the bloat as well as drop some weight. Is she near her period as well? this will cause water retention in a big way. You might try some extra B6 at about 400mgs per day and spread the dose out through the day.
 
It's the oatmeal. A lot of women get the same effect with oatmeal as with wheat. It makes the retain water. If she is carb sensitive the the white potatoes might be causing it. I'd place my bet on the oatmeal.
 
Thanks Sassy and OF. It's not that time of the month. I questioned her about that. I did wonder about the oatmeal . I'm thinking that she needs to go with something like grits. I will get her some B6 as well, but will it have time to take effect since the comp is Saturday ?

Yes it might just start to work by then, but run it anyway. After her show continue the b6 but half the dose! B6 is good for many things and water retention is one of them.

further investigation, the culprit has been narrowed down. It seems that Aunt Flo was standing on the outside doorstep when I first opened this post. Now, I know why the bloating is there, however, I did take the both of your's advice. I had her change the oatmeal to grits and she started the B6 yesterday. Thanks again you two

That would explain it. She could try some Dandelion Root, but the lady at Vitamin World told me if you are allergic to ragweed not to take it. I didn't try it. Their only other option was Vitamin World's Water Pill which contained Uva Ursi, Buchu, Juniper and Parsley.

Double up on the water rations, do all the above mentioned additions and I'd say she'll be fine.:D

hi, I would like to know how this worked out..... I too get bloat with oatmeal and potatoes, which is why I don't eat them anymore, eventhough I like them both.
