Avoiding cravings..

My girlfriend and many ex's have very big sweet tooths.. Always craving junk food.. My girlfriend is trying to eat clean and loose about 5 lbs but always gives in to junk food at work or late at night.. She eats healthy throughout the day and goes to the gym consistently, but can't get over her cravings.. I don't know what to tell her, because its easy for me to ignore my cravings.. She brings healthy fats like almonds and fruits to work, but winds up eating a donought or cookies..

My motivation is because i live a bodybuilding lifestyle and don't want to look or feel like most of the people who eat junk food on a consistent basis.. She is not a bodybuilder, but is very health conscience..

So i was looking for some advice from the ladies about how you control or curb your junk food cravings?

She needs a distraction from her cravings. Some form of activity or some outside stimulus. There is no way to aviod cravings really, they will always be there, it is just a matter of will power. She really needs to think harder about her goals and just remind her that chcoclate will still be sold when she finishes her diet. Once in a while it is ok to indulge, but when you are dieting this is not the time. try to get her mind of the cravings and onto something else.................make her crave you instead of chocolate. What ever you do......do not give her the option of you or the chcoclate....................you may not like her decision!!! LOL!

I'm a man, but...
If I can offer some advice, What I used to do to keep on my diet was, schedule a cheat day or meal. That way she can hold off until then.

It will be easier if she knows that she will be allowed to eat let's say every 4 to 5 days or so. Then right back on the diet. It actually makes the cheat meal much more enjoyable as well.

Just think about how it feels when you're doing a show,at first you can't wait to eat, but after a week or two of eating after the show, it gets old.

Good idea, this is also advice I tell people as well. I'm also a BIG TIME gum chewer. You could also have her try Crystal lite, teas, and sf jellos. You could also have her turn one of her evening meals into a treat. For example having oatmeal with raisins, cinnamon, and sf cream (coffee creamer). Or make healthy snacks. IG has a killer muffin recipe that I LOVE! I'm not sure if she posted it here or not.

crystal light & protein shakes with a packet of splenda are what I look forward to at night to feel like I am having a treat. It's taken a while to train myself to only want that, but it is possible if you continually work on taking out junk sweets.

I wish they would make SKittles or Lucky Charms with Splenda.

you already received some good ideas...but I also tried chocolate whey with a little natural peanut butter, and a little water...I'm not eating it now, because I'm not doing the whey protein at the moment, but it's really yummy, and I can't wait to have that soon as a treat.

Thx for all the good ideas... Most of them involve whey protein.. It's gonna be hard to get her to drink it... I'll have to mask it in suger free pudding..

The most important thing Bigguns, is to make her focus on her goals, once she sees progress she will know what this is for. After a few weeks the cravings will go away and feel normal.

Another tip is to make sure to drink tons of water and pickles, they have 0 calories, and can help kill the appetite somewhat.

Besides no matter what the food is, it's won't taste as good as it feels to be in shape.

I don't eat any of those sugar free diet items as the chemicals give me really bad heartburn. I just wait till my cheat day.
