Which weight class?

ok so im 5'7 and right now im 132.. i need more legs.. and lats so im about to bulk. i think im going to have a hard time hitting the light heavy weight of 140. even bone dry and as lean as i can get without detroying my muscle.. im thinking once my legs and lat are ready im going to be over so im trying to decide if i should shoot for 140 and risk the muscle im about to build or go full on bring the best package i can then possibly have my ass handed to me in the heavy weight division. its going to be my first body building show (NPC) and i would really rather not totally embarrass myself. what do you guys think?

here is a current pic of me at 132

I think you should show up in whatever weight class you look your best. Unless it is one of the BIG regional NPC contest, chances are good you will little to no competition regardless of weight class...so just look your best.

If you were competing at the national level, eh, maybe you'd want to start with strategy on hitting a weight class if a pro card is your goal. (all just my opinion)

I wish you the best!

Please don't interpret this as a knock, b/c that's not my intention...

Unless you are genetically elite (which you may be, I know I'm not though), you are in no danger of making stage weight above 140 in at least 1-2 years. Do yourself a favor and don't aim for a weight and just put on fat to see the scale move. It will be hell dieting down for the contest.

If you do it though, you are blessed and can climb high faster than most.

edit: Obviously, if you've already been that muscular and are just rebuilding it, it will come quicker and makes your concerns more realistic.

Dom, that is great advice.

I think many of us have made the mistake of sucking down into a weight class and screwing everything up. IMO, unless your REALLY close, don't even worry about the scales. Just hit this show and see how it goes and use it to learn.

Although a bit blurry you look like your in very good shape. I don't see where you should have anything to worry about. Hell, just having the courage to step up on stage shows a lot.

Let's see the wheels!

the wheels are what im worried about LOL that is the focus of this bulk. i need about 3-4 inches on the quads... i gained 2 last bulk but its not enough apparently lol as some of you know.. i used to be REALLY fat.. i had some surgery to tighten my skin upbut i have lost 50+ lbs since then.. the legs have suffered so i need to fill them out with muscle. which i BETTER do this bulk lol

Ditto on what Phoenix and Hott said about not worrying about a weight class. Good luck Sadie.

I agree myself. It doesn't matter what weight class you compete at. Just come in at your best. Best of luck to you at your show.

Red face empathize

I don't know anything about contests, but I did want to empathize with you on gaining size to tighten up skin. That's my problem as well. I have "chicken wing" arms from some serious weightloss and I hate it. I did have tummy tuck and am happy with portion of my body, but legs and arms seem impossible to fill out with muscle!
Good luck on your contest and kudos for all your hard work, you look great!

Definitely agree! Don't let your weight get the best of you! concentrate on how you feel and the progress you are making in the mirror
