Hi all

here are a few pics from the IFBB state show in march 2006 in Australia. i won the state L/H division and the next day got 3rd in the national L/H division. im the guy on the left (looking at the computer screen)

i want to hit a nice offseason and get back on stage next yr. any advice is most appreciated.

You appear to have a good tendency toward overall balance, shape, and muscularity. You're a good example of someone who should continue to progress with more size, as it appears to fall well on you.

In your first photo, place your heels closer together, giving the illusion of wider shoulders. The same applies to the front-relaxed pose.

Your back heads, which are a focus of the judges, are good. Try to raise your arms slightly and move the biceps peaks into the light, making it easy for the judges to see their height.

You can see the importance of posing and selecting the poses that show your strongest points by comparing your third photo and fourth photo. In the third photo you appear to need more size in arms, delts, traps, and upper-inner pecs. In the fourth photo, with the exception of the traps, each of these bodyparts looks stronger than it did in the third photo. The side-chest is a good pose for you. Try to bring your left elbow further out and forward, creating an image of a wider upper-body.

In the final photo, you can again see how well this pose works for you, allowing your size to be more pronounced. Immediately upon looking at this photo, the viewers' eyes rivet to you.

i plan taking the next yr off competing to try and add some overall mass to my body, and to also finish my PhD studies.

and yes now im back competing, i realise how things like chosing the right poses etc can make such a big difference.
