Getting Serious Again (After Cancer)

Its been quite a while since I have been active on here. Figured if I made a log of training it would force me to take training a tad more serious once again.

Little bit of history in 2012 I was diagnosed with stage III liver cancer. I have been very fortunate enough to beat this. Early in 2014 I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Fortunately treatment is going very well allowing me to be extremely consistent in the gym.


Height - 5'11
Weight - 215

On TRT (prescribed) at 100MG per week.


Diet is much more to the seafood approach (see food/eat food). Only eating Organically sourced items. I try for 40+ grams of protein per meal and 30 grams of carbs.

Training is a 3 day hypertrophy split for a week followed by a three day power split for a week and repeated. One off day per week. Each day there is also a hour of BJJ and a hour of striking. Focus is transferring from lifting to MMA. (No intent to compete I just find it enjoyable).

Was very fortunate to be diagnosed with CML not AML. Detection rate for the Philadelphia chromosome is down nearly 500% over the past two months. Taking Sprycel for it, working like a charm!

Very glad to see you back and doing well bro. I had a buddy/acquaintance that also had liver cancer and beat it...and got leukemia as well. He's fighting it like a mother and doing very well. He took a largely holistic/juicing approach. Many on this forum may be familiar with him as he competed in the npc and has been mentioned on here from time to time. Your stories are similar in my mind. Glad to see you taking the bull by the horns.

Wow man it's crazy to think how short life can be. Glad you have some positive stuff going for you and I'm sure it has helped to keep mentally strong through it. Will follow your log for sure.
