I want to get some feedback from some of the national level guys (Shelby, B-boy, Alex, Chris 250, etc) on the board. Do you guys think I could be competitive at a smaller level national show like Jr. USA's? I've only competed in local level shows to this point and am wondering if I should attempt to take things to the next level. I'm 180lbs in these pictures......so I'm certainly capable of sucking down to middleweight to compete at a higher level. I'm the guy in the turquoise trunks......all opinions and critiques are welcomed.

and if 180 in these pics, i woundnt even think nats at all until i was over 200 at around the same condition

Maybe 5'7" on a good day. I'm a bit tall (probably the only time I'll get to say that) for the middleweight class at a higher level. You're around my height aren't you Shelby?
 
Good physique, but too thin for National level. I agree with Tenny, more muscle.

I think 5'7" is too tall for a middleweight unless you are beyond lean with amazing shape.. You might want to move up to the lightheavies.. put on some size.

As for competing at the Junior USA.. personally i dont consider that a national show because no pro card is given out in bodybuilding so the best dont come out to compete.. The difference between the Junior USA and USA is like night and day..

I would work on adding size, improving condition and continue competing at the regional shows.. Then work up to the Junior level shows.. Junior USA or Junior Nationals..

The true national shows that have deep lineups in each weight class are a ways off, but i would strive to make slow and steady improvement.. NO need to jump into the deep end right away.. take your time and enjoy and learn from the process.

Thanks for your thoughts Alex. I know I'm years away from where I would need to be to even consider doing Nationals or USA's. In fact, I doubt I would ever be able to get my physique to a level where I would feel like I could belong in a lineup like that. Luckily, I'm still young (26)......time to get back to the grind.

Seriously.........are you guys not seeing his crisp muscle? You are a VERY SHORT road away from nationals. You have a rare crispness/clean muscle look.......Ronnie Coleman had that before he exploded. I can tell you have been on VERY LITTLE....if any at all. Trust me, you are THIS CLOSE if you do things right in the future.

Wow.....coming from you that means alot. I never thought I'd hear something like that coming from a pro. I guess my next question is..........do you think I could take out "concreteguy" if he decides to do my "little show" next year?

Don't worry man..........I don't feel bad. It's just bodybuilding..........there's alot more to life then posing on stage in your undergarments.
 
i happen to agree with phil. with a little bit more thickness overall and the right person helping you prep and get shredded i think you would do ok at the jr usa if you start now.
 
I would say bring your size up and get with a good coach and you could hit a Jr. level show in a year or two.
 
I agree with the rest of the guys about competing on at Nats or USA (but hell im doing it...LOL) But at the Jr.USA or even Jr.Nats with a tad more thickness and conditioning I think you would be ok, to hit top 10...Maybe even closer to top 5 with the right conditioning and some luck...Your on the right track though..You do have a rare look that CAN go very far in this sport..I would continue it, but be safe and take your time

I really like your back double bicep pose. I would say your back is your strength and your quads need more work. Looks like you were carrying some fat still in your legs which is strange because you were really lean up top. Maybe it was water rentention?
 
I can't compete with Phils mind, but you look allot further along than you were getting credit for.
