What are some good goals for big exercises like:

1. Dead lift
2. Bench press
3. Squats
4. Overhead press

Are there any rules of thumbs that relate weight you can lift/press/whatever to body body?

One guy told me a good goal is to be able to overhead press your weight. Another guy told me a good goal is to be able to deadlift 2x your weight.

Mind you that I'm talking about an AVERAGE guy, not an AVERAGE POWERLIFTER. For example, when I'm at the gym, very few people bench 225 lbs. So to me, for an average guy, about 225 would be a decent bench. Is that about right?

Well, it depends on your goals. This may be a bad place to ask, as many here define "good" as something falling into the elite brackets in BBing or PL!

Those are good goals you listed. Though overhead pressing your body weight would probably leave you with a bench higher than 225 if you weigh around 200 lbs. More like 250 bench, if your overhead is 200.

2x BW DL is ok for a normally training guy.
BW bench + 25 is fine.
Overhead press, BW is good.
I'd say Squats, 100lb over BW is a good start.
Id throw in pullups too. 10 for a normal guy is a start.

They are all ok for a normal guy, as the non-training population generally can't even approach these numbers. Hell, many cant even do 10 pushups.

here are some very high goals...

deadlift - 3x your bodyweight
squats - 2.5x your bodyweight
bench - 2x your weight
overhead - 1.5x your weight
pull ups - its not really a biggie, but if you can get 20, your doing pretty good.

training in the same gym as savickas atm
some numbers from his wokouts. he's using belt only, weight in kilograms
close grip bench 230 x 3
shoulder press in smith 220 x 2
squat 360 x 2 (his best is 420-425 raw)

he weights ~160-70kg himself ;)
