My front squat lifts are alot weaker than my regular squat lifts.. I train DC.. So i do one set heavy for 7-10 reps.. Then a widowmaker (drop set) for 20 reps.. Well.. My regular squat was at 505lbs for 10 reps and my front squat is only around 315 lbs for 10 reps.. Is this a normal difference?? It seems pretty weak for a front squat.. Front squats are killer because all the weight is sitting on your quads.. You get no support from the glutes like regular squats..

Yes 315 for 10 is good!

today i did front squats... Got 315 for 8 b4 the bar rolled off my damn shldrs.... My reg sq isn't nearly as high as yours tho, 405 x 10 on a good day.

Really nice form.. Is it easier to hold the bar like that rather than crossing your arms?

No. Unless of course you have the shoulder felxability to do so right off the bat... I started front squating like 5-6yrs ago and used the olympic grip right from day one. It allows me to use the same grip for cleans, front squats, and overhead pressing... Its a weightlifting thing.

If you're just interested in BB I wouldn't bother...

Nice front squats guys. I really like front squats. I believe they helped my deadlift too.

The power in the front squat comes from the hammies, not the quads. You should think of your hammies as a spring loading on the way down, you should go to the point where your hammies and calf touch. When they meet you should have a release where you have a bounce off the bottom which propels you to right back up. If you have trouble getting down this far, it means you are too inflexible which isn't uncommon. Good luck man.

exactly, it's a chore in itself for the should and leg flexibility the strength gains are awesome, but OL is an art on it's own and should not be taken lightly.
