First I would like to wish a happy/ healthy new year to everyone on the board and now for my Q :

I am trying to drink my oats for breakfast with my pro shake by throwing it all into a blender and mixing it up. The problem is that I almost gag by doing this and I am not a big fan of eating oatmeal. I purchased today at a health store organic oat flour which is made from whole grain oats and that mixes very well/ no clumps with my shake. Now would this be just as nutritional as regular oats ? The calories, fat, carbs ,fiber are identical to both but I am a little leary because it is a flour.

Thanks

Your first mistake is throwing it into your blender. I'm assuming you're using regular oats and not QUICK oats, because the quick oats aren't that hard to put down once you mix it with fluid / protein. Essentially what you did was create your own version of Oat Flour by blending the crap out of it, and then letting the liquid (What did you use for the protein? Milk?) saturate it creating a very thick consistency that's almost unchewable.

Plus, how much oats are you taking? You really should only be putting maybe 1 serving in there, as it will get too thick, even for regular preparation.

As for the difference between regular oat and oat flour nutrition wise, there is no difference. One is simply the grounded up verison of the other.

I'd stick with QUICK OATS if I were you.

Hope this helps.

maybe start boiling in skim milk the oats, if they are hard. add few fruits in, if you don't like the taste, few slices of banana, and few strawberies. Add synthepure whey in the blender and there you go, nothing more delicious!
