Who's had it done?
Regrets?
How did you decide on a salon?
What to look out for?
What mistakes you made?
Are there different kinds of machines/technology?
What are the differences and benefits?

I got quoted 700 bucks to do mine, this was 4 years ago. I plan on doing it in about 4 months after my show. I will post as much info as I can, cuz it takes more than 1 session to do it all. This will be done at a plastic surgeon office.

Yes, it did stop my hair from growing back. But, what most people dont know is that, depending on your skin type, you might have to have 4-8 treatments to actually stunt the hair growth. I had 3, but it was well worth it! Not cheap business!

My girl is getting her ......... done now.She paid $1150 for 6 sesions. They can only do one session per month, something to do with the growth cycle of the hair. She has only had two done so far and it's smooth. She is having it done by a Dr. that dose all cosmetic stuff.
They sell packages of sessions, because it take several befor it kills all the hair. And they tell you that it might grow back in a few years.

I did it back in 2004 for a year and a half on my back. It was like Helga's House of Pain. It did remove it longer than anything else, BUT it all came back a year later. They also couldn't go anywhere near my tattoo because the laser attacks dark colors so it would literally boil my skin if they did. I tell ya BigA, it sucked getting it done. Worse than waxing for me and I'm really good with pain. The hairs actually pop out of your skin smoking or on fire believe it or not. And again it all came back after I dumped about $2000. This place was state of the art machinery also. I have a couple of friends, big guys like us, same deal and they went to different doctors with different machinery. I haven't seen it work on one guy yet. Women, maybe, but not men. Once that testosterone level builds back up, out comes the hair again. I just use Nair for Men now (the lotion, not the roll on). http://www.nairformen.com/
Good luck though on whatever your choose. I am going to wait until the finally approve the topical solution they are coming out with which is the same medication for Alopecia, it just does the exact opposite, and removes hair.

I have toyed with the laser idea but holy shit! Not any more. For that kind of money I will stay with the waxing!

Yeah, every session was like $350-400. Expensive and isn't a permanent fix. It may be cheaper in your area however, as New Jersey is mandated that a doctor must perform it. Whereas in Philly I think you just have to be certified or an aesthetician or something, but you don't have to be a doctor which will obviously be cheaper.

I have a buddy ( one hairy motherfucker. ) He got a quote of $3500 to $4000 Can Dollars for his removal.

Big Bucks.

Boo.

It would be worth the cost if it were truly permanent, but not for the hair to start growing back in a year or so...

not sure if anyone mentioned this??

If you are on any test, you are wasting your money....is says right in the information guide that if you are on some type of HRT, the hair will more than likely grow back...you are still stimulating the hair folical and therefore it will continue to grow hair. WAste of cash for us BBers

Research the qualifications of the Medical Director of the facility. Is he or she Board Certified in Dermatology? Is the facility affiliated with an academic medical center? You have to remember this is a medical procedure, and should be selected with the same care you give to selecting a surgeon.

Even something mild like var?

my wife owns a medispa that has a plastic surgeon medical director. She does ipl laser hair removal, electrolosys and her employees do other stuff i.e. injectable like botox, restelin, massage and other stuff.

From what i've learned from her it takes between 5 to 8 or more treatments to be permanent. The earlier lasers only could work on people with fair skin dark hair. i.e a dark skinned person with blond hair would not work. The reason hair grows back is more hormonal meaning new hair follicles formed later.

The reason for the high price is the machine cost her 85,000. And you can buy different hand pieces 10 to 15k a piece that will do different things i.e. photo facials tattoo removal, spider vein removal and so on. So if you live in central Massachusetts send me a pm and ill give you her info.

6 sessions on my back. only had peach fuzz back there but I wanted it smooth. now I have more hair than I did before dropping 2K on laser. Unless you have the money to go for 10+ sessions, and annual follow-up, don't do it.
Maybe I just had a bad experience, but that's my 2 cents.

I don't know what part of the country your in, but IDEAL IMAGE is a major company that specializes in lazar hair removal. I reside in both Las Vegas and Florida and know there are locations in both areas. I have heard nothing but good things about them. May be worth looking into.

BigA,

The GF had it done a while ago and has gone a couple times for a follow up. Initially, it was $1800 (total) for five sessions for both the underarm and bikini area and is/was $75 per area for each follow up visit. Every now and then she gets a few strays, but all-in-all, it looks good and she is very happy with it. They now have a cold laser that blows cold and people dont even feel it--they say that you dont even have to numb now. She has absolutely no regrets and says it is/was the best thing she did. Even the now and then touch ups are worth the money. No razor burn, etc.

She selected Alase as it was considered the best in the area at the time. Now, they are called Reveal Medspa. She highly recommends it...hope this helps a little.

i guess its ok for women it costs an arm and a leg but i think its well worth it my girfriend is very happy with the results she had 5 treatments total...its expensive for the whole body but very effective and cheap for smaller areas...alex

Thanks for the help everyone. Some very good suggestions.
