I LOST MY GYM

Last thuesday the court came to my beautifull gym and closed it deffinetly.

My stupid bussiness parter has the 70% and i had the 30% btween he and me, noting signed becouse my lawyer told me to wait for my green card to avoid problems with my inmigration prosess.

On May 2005 my BP stop paying the rent trying to get a lower rent. I told him you cant do this, "this is not Venezuela where you can stay without pay the rent for a year".

He aslo didnt want to have the department of agriculture permit (permit that protects the member if the gym close paying the months they have left)

Well i began fighting with this MF since January bc my wife and me didnt like the way he runs the bussiness, we were trying to do our best without hes support and money bc he is in venezuela all the time h came 3 days last January 05 and 3 days in June 05.

So he came in December 05 to spent the christmass with hes girlfriend and trying to run the bussiness for 15 days(what a joker) he doesnt know even where we buy the paper toylet.

By chance, one day before he supouse to live to venezuela last week the court came and closed the gym, the landlord won the sue and took over the place with everyting inside.

I knew about the sue in June 05 and he told me he fixed the problem and the landlord was accepting to low the rent, at that time i already got my permanent residence and he toldme to put the 30% under my name but i told him i didnt want it bc i will have a sue in less then one year living in this country bc hes bad ways dealing with people and legal things and laws about the bussines....so i saved my ass.

So this MF doesnt want to pay the people their money, he doesnt going to pay the landlord, and hes declaring bankrupsy, and he ask me to make a bussines plan to open another gym more on north in Florida.

Can you imagin this, this guy is fuck up, my wife and me desnt want to see him anymore.

Now we are unenployed but we fell good. I am just worried about my competitions this year.
I am looking for the best oportunity to work around the area, and i have more bad offers than good offers but we will find something soon...I Hope! but i preffer to work in LAFitness at $12 an hour than work with this ass hole again.

Wow, Heinz I am so sorry to hear that. Stop worrying about competitions for now. Get your head on straight and get your financial position stable. You owe that portion to your wife before you worry about competing again. Keep your head up, and I wish I could say something else to ease the anger, but I'm coming up short of words. If it were me I'd just hunt the mutha fucker down, walk into any other current businesses he has and take a piece of it each week. Don't be afraid to make his life miserable.

That sucks Heinz! My wife and I trained at the gym during the nationals, and I loved it. Something will work out for you. there are ton's of gyms in Miami, and I'm sure an IFBB pro on staff must look good!

I am about to start a biz here soon with a 'friend' but we each have our own seperate lawyers and are drawing up agreements and contracts so that we are both protected. lesson learned i guess right? i wish you and your wife the best and im sure you'll find s'thing soon. keep your head up

This is the problem when you start a buisness with a partner,if he's unreliable then that means trouble in the future for sure.Next time try setting something up with a more reliable partner who's running the buisness like it should be.

No way, I was just on your ironpeoples site the other night looking for ideas for my new gym. I am so sorry to here about your loss Bro. I know from reading your posts how hard you worked to build up your business. Sounds to me like you just had a bad business parnter. It is an achivement IMO to move to America from a different country and to go to somewere like South Beach were the competition for gyms must be so high and make a success for as long as you did and if you had 100% control of the business I am sure things would have worked out different. You seem to have built up a good your repution as a trainer/gym owner in that area. You are a smart guy(Your even a Pro Bodybuilder). Keep at it and most of all stay postive. Best of Luck to you and your wife. Things will work out.

Well I say congratulations look at it this way...you learned a lot from this right? you learned about the gym business and all the little things that go with it, you learned a lot about this fucker partner of yours and from what it sounds like you are not totally wiped out.

Some lessons in business can absolutely leave you penniless, you can come back from this and only paid a little for the important lessons you have learned so when you get an opportunity next time you are even better prepared to beat the odds

You know what people are looking for in a gym and have run one for awhile so this is your chance to change the little things you may have wanted to change before.

Most shady business partners usually split leaving their honest biz partner to clean up the mess... So in that respect you learned alot and got out unscathed! Hey BH, Being a gym owner myself, I feel your pain and share it with you. It's like losing a loved one. You are better off without dickbrains. I recently had to buy my partner out of her half of the business. It has put me back a bit but it is all mine now. Sounds like you shoulda been negotiating with the landlord. Hey here's an idea. Why don't you approach the landlord and ask him if you pay some back rent and work it out with him you take everything over and start it back up bro. The bad blood was between your dickbrained partner and the landlord right?? So you go and talk to him, I'm sure a solution can be worked out. I've been in business for over 10yrs. I have found that being up front is the only way to survive. And the lies do not come back to bite you. Afterall the landlord want his property rented, you want your gym back, it's "Negotiation Time". try it, you have absolutely nothing to lose. Man I so wish I was there to help you. You hit the nail on the head BH, we are a big family here, if we do not look out for each other and help our brothers and sisters here then what the fuck are we doing here? That is exactly why I love this place, I have more relatives in iron than I do real family. Evryone here are champions. It's in our blood and our souls. We share the pain and the happiness. Sometimes all that is needed are kind words and the offer of help and BANG, back on track. Hey bro, don't worry about the upcoming comps right now, you have a taller order in front of you right now.
