as has been alluded to earlier most grains need to be soaked to get really 100 percent out of them, this does not mean they are useless before you soak them but some people will have issues. historically grains were always soaked to make their nutrients more digestible and usable to the body

ALso thank you BIG TIME for taking the time to make this thread AMAZING!!!!!
Hey bro- not a fan of casein protein nor any supplemental protein when whole food sources are available. try omega-3 eggs and some egg whites 1-3 hours before bed. They digest well for most.

the carb intake is a real circumstantial thing. Some may require very few carbs to create enough energy surplus to spare the EFA's and EAA's for muscle building and some may require more. Things like metabolism, daily energy expenditure from work (physical job vs desk job) are all taken into account. If you have determined .5g/LBM carbs as adequate for you then it is per day not per meal.

hope that helps brother

the M-F "keto" ish diet plus a weekend re-feed is sort of like the anabolic diet or a CKD diet.. not a fan...

quinoa is good, Oatmeal tends not to bother me but yes some people dont digest it well. Try brown rice, yams/sweet potatoes, quinoa, millet, sprouted grain products (food for life=good company)

Wish I would have talked to you 10 years ago before failing miserably with so many cookie cutter bulking diets when I was younger. I remember my friends saying man I just cant eat enough to put muscle on. I would get fat on a 200+ carb per day diet and that was weighing 190+ lbs lean. It always seemed that eating big only got me fat. It was not until recently that I strayed from the cookie cutter bulking diets and figured out that if I kept my carbs under 200 grams per day and kept 100 grams of those pre and post work out I will grow lean with minimal fat gains. I would have been afraid to speak out like this years ago for fear of being ridiculed since every one thought every one needed a billion plus carbs and calories per day to get big. How the times and knowledge changes.

Quinoa is also a complete protein (unlike wheat, rice, etc.)

If you're in the states, both Whole Foods and Trader Joe's carry it.

Thanks so much FF, for answering all the questions its been real helpful.

After the body uses carbs for energy and it needs more energy and you are giving it EFA's and protein what does it use next for fuel?

Just wanted to say that some apple cider vingar is great for thinning bile salts and keeping your organs that help with burning fat (liver mainly) woroking better. 1 tbls a day is good dose.

I see on another thread that people may be thinking based on the foods we are recommedning that FF and I are anti-carb...

Well I am anti-low fat, not a big proponent of super low carbs.

If you get to know what certain fats do for your body, you will see why.

Not eating good fats is not a good recipe for health and longevity.

This is what I am trying to do, help people understand that you can get lean, and get healthy at the same time...it's not impossible to do both.

Thats what we all really want.........one just cant lump our diet into high/low/moderate carb...........get enough carbs but focus on fats and proteins

I usually add 1tsp per liter of water and drink that throughout the day...also, i make sure it is first cold pressed and contains "mother of vinegar".

Yes, exactly Phil - thank you. I actually put a good dose of oats, brown rice, blueberries, and many other carbs for variety in all the diets I do...but I don't load people up on 500-600 gram type diets, when healthy fat will do more for the body hormonally which equals more efficient fat loss and muscle gain..thanks again Phil..

That is a great way to do it. i am too much of a wimp, I just take the tablspn and chase it with something. The way you do it is better though..
