What are your thoughts about a one thousand calorie shake!? I have been training squats and deadlifts hard hoping one day to hold a state record for my weight class...I have been depleted lately needing more calories...feeling flat and tired.

I have added this shake into my diet. I eat 4 meals a day...sensible meals...mostly lean meats + green leafies + some complex carbs. I just drink the shake for breakfast since I still have nausea issues in the morning. I drink the shake after the meals lunch, dinner1, dinner2...it lets me enjoy the eating process and savor the food...and then get my calories in with the shake.

Here's the shake:
1 cup DRY oatmeal (quick oats)
2 cups 2% milk
50g whey protein isolate/concentrate blend
1 banana
FAT 2 tablespoons (either natty peanut butter, almond butter, coconut milk,
coconut oil, olive oil, or macademia nut oil, rotate these)
OPTIONAL: Add spinach leaves for vitamins (like a green smoothie)

Thats one thousand calories according to my calculations. Its a little like the gallon of milk a day some powerlifters endorse...but it is healthy food selections...rather than just milk. Its got milk in there too obviously.

I'm not too worried about getting fat...its hard for me to gain fat since I am so active (have to walk back and forth to work, workout hard, swim, do cardio on bike, etc). Sorry if this is too elementary...hopefully get some good input from experienced people.

My goal someday is to hold state records for my weight class (165) and to stay lean and strong for my passions in life (lifting, surfing, climbing).
 
btw don't know if it matters, but I am 26 and natural for the forseeable future. Pretty sure i can get my goals with just food and determination...no need for AAS.

For the 165 weight class thats a ton of calories.

I have 4 950 calorie MRP shakes per day right now but am using slin for the uptake. But to be honest I love it even when not using slin.

dam bro 4000 cals in just shakes??? holy shit how many real food meals do you have a day?? how big are you, whats the rest of your cals for the day like how many cals a day you take in 7000??

^ I pm'd you but for the sake of disclosure (is that a word?!?) I am just about to hit 4pps for a double on the deadlift which is my lift i focused on and love so much...sometime within the next couple weeks...I know I know not huge...its a personal quest though I have to be strong so its all gravy if I am gaining ya know what I mean?...I only train squats to help the deadlift...I could care less about the bench press...I do floor presses and DB incline presses and don't even flat bench at all.

I'm not big! I reckon I'm about 165ish last I checked I was 164 but weight shifts a few pounds back and forth. 5'6".

I eat verymoderate meals otherwise...like 40g pro/40g carbs/10-20g fat...I eat that 3 times a day...I never been a big eater but have forced myself to eat since I began this strengthbuilding hobby...then the shakes which are around 75g pro/90g carb/20g fat if mycalculations are correct...thats easy for me to drink those (just gulp them down after the moderate meals). I used to drink just straight whey after meals but now I have recently experimented with this new carb/pro/fat shake to boost calories like I desperately need.

Its my way I've found to get my calories inside me so I can continue gaining strength. The only way I've found so far.::tar-wars

Your shake is so much healthier than the weight gainers on the market. Also your using healthy ingredients. I heard of guys using fast mix cake mix powder. Just for balance why not make these drinks meal 4 & 5 so you have more of an even intake of calories thru out the day.

I shoot for three but tend to be around 2 for solid meals. Work + School = not a good atmosphere to be eating in. Right now 5'10 255-260
 
Psy T, here is mine, once a day.

6 oz. of crushed ice, 4 oz of water

2 packets of instant weight watchers maple and sugar (the no sugar one)

1 banana

2 scoops of whey protein

I will sometimes add 2 tbls spoons of natural peanut butter or 2 tablespoons of honey.

Absolutely deliscious!
