I love this Doctor!

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Your heart only good for so many beats and that it...don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiency. What does cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So steak is nothing more than efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef also good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And pork chop can give you! 100% of recommended daily allowance of vegetable product.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain...good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food are fried these day in vegetable oil. In fact, they permeated by it. How could getting more vegetable be bad for you?!?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me.

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' a shape!

I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

Remember:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!"

AND...
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

man thats funny.

I saw the part of speaking in English in a seminar and it talked about how you can change statistics to your advantage. So true with this one.

I like that ! ;-)

Tough Old Man how you been bro

ROFL!

are you still in touch with Ironman if so hows he doing?

lol.. thats funny.. i asked my doc one time if he thought i should start to increase my cardio a bit for health purposes.. told him i thought i should strengthen my heart.. he looked at me and rolled his eyes.. he said "heart only has some many beats.. dont waste them except for sex.. healthy people with strong hearts die just like the rest of us and about the same time.. and some earlier..".. i kinda laughed.. he did not...

I remember years ago running across research put out by a heart doc. He basically was saying the same thing. If I'm recalling accurately, he even mentioned that if we (mankind) were to cure ALL known diseases, such as cancers and the like, we would still die due to the heart giving out (he mentioned the same thing, the heart only has so many beats programmed in it). So, sad to say, we just can't win for loosing.

However, I'm a firm believer in the fact that we CAN still speed our death up due to stupidity, *LOL*. Therefore, exercise caution with life!

.

I'm shocked cause I have said this many times and was serious. I think it not only a waste of time, but it totally detrimental to your heart.

OMG Bodybuilding is so conflicting!! LOL so cardio is not good for your heart and arteries? Making sure this is right because another ten years down the road it may change.

Magnum i quoted you because this is a serious question laced with some humor :D plus i believe what you say. I seriously thought cardio was good for your heart though

This deserves a straight answer. OK, nothing wrong with doing 20 min of cardio to warm up before your workout if that's something you like to do, but I see so many people running on the treadmill for an hour making their poor heart beat at so many beats per minute cause they are told by certain experts that it is the healthy thing to do. Why in the world would making your heart pump twice or three times as fast as it's supposed to for a prolonged length of time every freakin day be a healthy thing? You are wearing your poor heart out.

Another misconception is that if your blood flows quickly thru your veins it somehow prevents plaque build up. I run my faucet in my bathroom pretty quick too, but every once in a while my sink gets clogged due to the shit in the city water. Exercise DOES NOT!!!!!!!! keep you from hardening of the arteries. It's all about what you eat!!!!!!

I know a lady who just turned 106 this month and for the last 4 years she's bed ridden and her heart is still pumpin strong. I'll bet this lady wasn't eating twinkies when she was a young girl. Think about all the shit food that people eat today. Back in her day whole milk, real butter, eggs, bacon, cream, real cheese, very little sugar. Today a healthy breakfast is considered some pressed together piece of sugar coated crap. Heart healthy cereal??? WTF does that mean?? What a load of misguided marketing BS.

Everyone is eating low fat and running into oblivion all the while eating on average 130 pounds of sugar a year. No freakin wonder most people over 40 are diabetics. Hell ,if your over 40 and not a diabetic your Dr is wondering WTH is wrong with you. So if you wanna die young here's the plan. Eat low fat, plenty of sugar, run on the treadmill till your heart wears out and make sure to eat plenty of fiber cause you're gonna need it to clear out all the crap and chemicals in your intestines from all the fake food that you will be eating.

That makes sense when you put it that way. Thanks Magnum

That's pretty much exactly the way I think.

Very well said and I agree with this but let's dispell the whole thing if possible; what about the fact(!?) that a stronger heart will need less beats pr minute while resting than an untrained heart. 1 hour of vigorous cardio will make a stronger heart so the rest of the 23 hours of the day the persons heart will beat x times less than a person who doesn't do cardio. Potentially a longer life can be expected since the heart beats less every day in a whole than an untrained person.

Any logic in that?

Of all the various exercises to chooses from, in terms of overall health cardio is one of the best choices a person can make.

Conditioning your heart with aerobics has been shown to be beneficial in study after study after study.

To say otherwise is just silly.

I can't believe people are really questioning this.
