Where can buy cheap almonds in BULK?

Almonds seem very expensive in places like Foodtown, Shoprite etc...

Donno bro..good question:confused:

I buy mine at Costco, they have a great price on raw almonds.

4 bucks a # sounds pretty good to me, i pay between 6-6.50 for a # at walmart. but if you buy online it also depends on what you will pay for s & h

Costco/Sams club has Raw Almonds and Walnuts for cheap...

I usually just got to a health food grocery that has the big bins you pour into a bag yourself...might be paying a few dollars more but its by far the most convenient for me.

I get Raw Almonds, Walnuts and Macadamia nuts.

I get em at Sams club

I highly doubt the almonds and walnuts at Costco (or Sam's Club) are truly RAW.

?

Shelby

how can you tell...mine say natural on them but they taste like theyre lightly roasted... without salt or anything else.

Raw peanuts taste nothing like the roasted varieties.
so...All nuts should be eaten raw... correct?

Thanks
E

They would say raw if they were... raw nuts don't last as long (shelf-life) so 99% of what you see on grocery shelves are not raw. You typically have to go to a specialty / health store to get them.
Roasting (heat/light/exposure) denatures EFAs so yes most would say raw nuts are the best option. Nuts aren't exactly high in EFAs but still raw is better. The cost of raw can be a bit prohibitive though. If you can't swing it, regular nuts are fine (what Costco sells, etc.).

I keep mine in zip lock bags in the freezer...that should keep them good longer right?

If they've already been heated then the damage is done...

I am talking about RAW nuts...like the ones you get out of the bins at whole foods.

Again, I'm not sure those are raw unless they actually say raw.

But yes freezing or refrigerating truly raw nuts is a good idea.

I bought 2 7 ounce bags of almonds in Foodtown.

$2.99 each bag.

So thats like 6 bucks for almost a pound.

Actually nuts tend to be very high in EFA's however most of the EFA content is O-6 so be careful when eating a lot of nuts!

why do u need almonds??

You don't.

But...they are a good source of phosphorus, calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc, iron and vitamin E if you do choose to eat them.

Also a great source of monosaturated fats which have been shown to reduce LDL while keeping HDL normal.
