former bodybuilding champ paul demayo has died from a drug overdose.. he had been struggling from addiction for years and it finally took him down..

Paul "Quadzilla" Demayo... Very sorry to hear of this loss.

Paul was a fixture in the magazines when I was just starting to get into this.

If anyone has some old pics, I'd love to see them for the memories!

I DO NOT HAVE THE INFO ON WHAT HE O.D.' ED ON SPECIFICALLY BUT, THE GUY WHO TOLD ME SAID HE WAS INTO SOME HEAVY STUFF.. if i find out more ill post ity.. as many of you know, he was in trouble with the law years ago and never seemed to recover to a life of "normal-cy"..

Damn, that is real sad news - seems like a lot of bad news/deaths around BB and ex-BBer's lately.... I know they're not related events, just coincidental, but there does seem to be a trend.... Drug abuse (whatever kind) will eventually catch up to you....

The word is that it was heorin, but I can't confirm it.
Unbelievable.
Paul was my idol and favorite bb'er when I started in this game met him several times at his prime and he was just unreal.
Paul had unlimited potential, and was fairly successful getting a huge MET-RX Contract and a new vette with that contract in the early 1990's.
Unfortunately, he had some problems with the law which left him for no appetite for the sport after that.
He served jail time because he shot a gun in the air outside in an argument with his wife.
The police got a crack addict down the street to testify he fired the gun at his wife to get a firm conviction and sentence.
No one knows what personal demons he had to fight after that but he did resume training and get back in great shape.
Unfortunately it seems his life took a turn for the worse and the addiction ended up killing him.
May he rest in peace and to me he is one of the greatest amatuer bb'ers and a truely great bb'er that never won a pro show.

I am Sorry.

I hope I dont get flamed for this but I find it very hard to give my sympathy to someone who kills themselves with Herion, I just feel my sympathy's would be better placed with those who really deserve it. I'm not really trying to be harsh here it sounds like he had more than a few chances to clean up his life.

I just cant feel sorry for someone who plays russian roulette with their life.
However, my sympathies to go out for his family and those that loved him.

What a waste.....

Compete

We competed with paul twice...got to spend some time with him,talking about training...and gear....learned alot..his trainer was Marty Dejim ..I can't spell it...but that dude knew alot also.....great guy...and to get to stand next to him...you really see how impressive he was....And if your wondering he placed a few spots in front of us...but you did mind losing to him...seeing as he turned pro soon afterwards. He will be missed...Bostons best

That guy was never Pauls trainer. He was a wannabe manager who chased after young men because he was gay.
