Does anyone do these? I tried a set of them the other day and really liked them. I could not use nearly as much weight as regular squats, but I felt it in my quads much more. I tend to use my hips and glutes too much while performing standard squats. I am a bit tall and have long legs, and I noticed front squats don't make me lean forward as much. I think I'm going to replace regular squats with these, to hell with the poundages, they really work my quads much better.
 
FRONT SQUATS ARE A GREAT EXECISE,IF U GOT STAGNENT ON BACK SQUATS
AND WHEN U GET STAGNENT ON THEM GO BACK TO BACK SQUATS & CONTINUE SWITCHING BACK AND FORTH,YOU WILL FIND THAT PEOPLE SAYTHEY
HIT DIFF PARTS OF THE QUADS BUT THE CHANGE UP IS IMPORTANT FOR GAINS.SQUATING FRONT OR BACK IS HARD AND SEPERATES US FROM GUYS WITH WHEELS OR NOT.JUST SQUAT UNTIL U HATE IT AND DO 2 MORE REPS
EVEN WITH OUT A SPOTTER.YOUR UPPER BODY WITH EXPLODE AS WELL
 
Front squats are great but as royal said, continue back squats as well. I replaced back squats with front and my back squat numbers suffered very bad from it.
 
I love the way front squats feel on the quads, I've just recently re-incorporated them into my routine.
As mentioned above, I feel you should alternate between front & back.
And try not to let the bar slip, it'll hurt like hell.
 
Yeah.. Keeping the bar on your shoulders is a bitch.. Especially with heavy weight.. That's why i luv to do these on the smith machine.. Easier to balance on your front delts..
 
I've been doing them lately, and have been feeling great. I actually feel smoother going deep with front squats, but i agree with the rest......shoulders take a beating with them.
 
Front squats are great! But don't walk away from doing the traditional squat. The front squats really hit those quads and make 'em burn. To help position the bar, keep those elbows high and let the bar rest in that cradle in your shoulder, keeping the bar as high as you can. I kept mine right below and next to my adams apple.
 
front squat :
-> less inclinaison to the front
-> horizontal distance between load and the knee (levier) is more important
-> request quadriceps ++

better than back squat if you suffer of back pain.
