MYOSTATIN INHIBITORS
Medical doctor and bodybuilder new to this board. Background in neuromuscular disease.
Original studies on myostatin inhibitor were being done @ Hopkins when I was there. Believe that Wyeth had proprietorship on a selective compound that was to be used in experimental trials in Lou Gerig's Disease. Never found out what happened. Does anyone have any ideas as to a direction to secure said myostatin inhibitor or a facsimile thereof. Have already spoken to Wyeth and they played stupid. Not talking any oral stuff--this was given by injection only. Seems like folks have let the 'ball drop' on this. Your insight would be appreciated. THANKS. DOC |

Therapies with antibodies are currently on phase III trial I believe for muscular dystrophy. Promising results with MYO-029 but in terms of muscle mass gains they are negligible on the dosage administered. The soluble receptor forms can be used but the interactions with other physiological pathways make it unsuitable for therapy purposes. Anyway, some side effects have already been noted. Brittle tendons, high CPK and LDH levels, skin reactions and some other conditions I cant remember. I have done a literature overview on the subject last year. For those interested, check on the latest research about folistatin modulation.
