I DONT POST MUCH.... BUT IM A 23 YR OLD COLLEGE STUDENT AND IM A ADDICT... WELL IM FROM A FAMILY OF ADDICTS... IVE BEEN ADDICTED TO GAMBLING DRINKING.... WELL I GAVE UP DRINKING FOR THE NEW YEAR BUT I FEEL OFF THE WAGON TONIGHT... YESTERDAY WAS MY GRANDPAS BDAY HE WAS THE ONLY MAN THAT WAS ALWAYS IN MY LIFE AND HE DIED IN 2002... BIRTHDAYS AND THE DAY HE DIED R THE HARDEST... SO TONIGHT I DECIDED TO CELBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY FOR HIM I KNOW ITS CHILDISH BUT IDK I JUST GET REALLY SAD AND UPEST ABOUT THIS..... THX FOR LISTENING!

Addiction is a serious issue... My father is an alcoholic. He has gone through sober periods and then went back to the bottle. Most of the family on my father's side were alcoholics come to think of it. I sympathize for you, but drinking alleviates the pain for only so long. In my dad's case I think he just thought life was too hard without it.
Please remember you can only do this for yourself. It's good that you acknowledge your addiction, and I hope you will take a fresh start this morning because it is a new day.

I give you props for trying to stay clean and sober. You always have friends here.
This board is full of good bodybuilders and awesome people. Bodybuilders get a bad rap for being aggressive and self centered but i have found most to be just the opposite. Actually most people who are so disciplined are very kind and easy going.
I would stick to your new years resolution and stay involved in bodybuilding, dont worry about falling off the wagon, just pick yourself up and get back on.

panic, i myself am a recovering addict.

what worked for me, and many ppl i know is a 12 step program and meetings.

Ull will learn what to do, when u get those horrible feelings INSTEAD of grabbing a drink... or two... or 5

" one is too many and a thousand is NEVER enough"

i pray alot now when times are tough.

when u have faith and hope bro... anything is possible

Wow, this is crazy! I am also a recovering addict. What works for me is keeping in touch with people who are trying to stay clean and better themselves spiritually and are positive influences. Not hanging out with people I used to associate with. Not going to the same places I used to go and hang out. and a couple other things. -StOrY

The way to get past your addiction is surrounding yourself with people that want to help you get past your problem. Keep yourself busy, like working out and every time you get the urge, talk to somebody(you had someone offer you his phone number that has been through it, take it, it could be your life line) Nip, I agree, faith works wonders, without getting into a religious debate, it pulled me out of the gutter. Keep your chin up, and if you slip up, put it behind you and go on. Wishing you the best.

Everybody trips up and has a fall at times Panic. Its human. You were at a weak time remembering and mourning your grandfather. Its understandable. Don't let your fall get to you too much. Don't let it undermine your self worth. Just get back up and try again with more determination. There's been some great advice given in this thread. Don't be afraid to lean on others. Hang in there.

That's sad to hear, and I can relate to you, I've had a lot of very bad habbits myself, especially the drinking, it cost me a lot, I lost money, work, time with family, fought with my spouse, and even lost property.

But that was yesterday, living in regret will only make you miserable, it's good to remember and feel bad about what happened, but then drop it, don't dwell on it.

What's done is done. Just clean yourself up and get right back on the wagon and focus your attention on something possitive, picture what you want to do and go do it.
