I have to kind of agree with this...you just cannot keep adding and not subtracting. I take alot of supplements but there is a purpose there...and it pertains to either my bloodwork, my genetic heritage or im adding or subtracting to try to figure out why my bloodwork got effected from 4 months ago.....but i absolutely limit myself now and MAKE myself subtract something if anything new is added....i dont understand at all why you would be on carditone and telmisartan at the same time. I am doing krill now and made myself drop fish oil. At the same time you have to make a threshold for yourself and stick to it...and whenever you add something new you really also should be thinking ok "what do I deem not worthy".
Excuse me for saying this....but it is very true. When someone goes thru something as traumatic and life threatening as what you have been thru...it creates a hypochondriac syndrome where the worry about health is 50x greater than the normal person...and i understand that. Every single guy in this forum who in one day was faced with "ummm theres a good chance you wont see tomorrow"...I guarentee it they would really start looking at things differently toward their health......but with that can become this obsession....which i understand. I saw my father whittle away from a 205lb powerhouse to a 115lb riddled with cancer skeleton to his death. It effected me so greatly it changed my thought process. Much of my supplement intake is tuned toward cancer prevention....but i have to draw a line somewhere and I do....and my line is drawn and i think you should also. I would look at your list and decide what is not worthy...and make yourself do away with those. And then i would get to the point that if you study something and feel its beyond worthy, you MUST subtract if you add it in.
Some things you might want to question on your list are
HMB
Pine Bark
Vitamin E
Selenium<---there is some good but alot of bad that comes from extra Selenium you might want to read about that
Arg+ Orth<---I dont understand why you are taking arginine when you are taking citrulline malate
Garlic<--yes great product but if i was you i would make a decision of whether this makes it onto your list over another product
L-lysine<--unless you have a certain venereal disease I would pass on this
fish oil<--i would make the decision between fish oil and krill oil
Vitamin C<--i was kind of shocked to see you using this to be honest...because I gave you some recommendations on that hematocrit thread but I had no idea that you were taking a hefty dose of vitamin C. If you want your hematocrit and hemoglobin lowered the last thing you want to be taking is supplemental vitamin C (and vitamin E). There have been numerous studies that show vitamin C and (to a lesser extent vitamin E) greatly raise hemoglobin and hematocrit)
My point is this...I everyone should draw a threshold for themselves and stick to it.....and over time it will result in taking the best supplements for oneself and not taking 15 placebo's
You are 100% correct health has become an obsession after what I went through. Thank you for understanding. I don't know why I kept carditone on that list as I haven't taken it in over a year. Sorry about that one.
I want to make it clear I am willing to drop whatever I need to if it means my hematocrit will stop increasing all the time.
I'll go down the list you mentioned and tell you why I've been taking each of the following:
Selenium: I take one 200mcg tab with uniquinol because they interact well
L-lysine: was taking with vitamin C to do the Linus Paulding thing
Vitamin C: never in a million years thought this could be harmful. Needless to say, the dose I took an hour ago will be my last one for the foreseeable future.
Pine bark aka pycnogenol (heart health) HMB (overall health and athletic performance and fat loss). Curious why there aren't good for me to use?
Arg + orn (only using this for the ornithine to help with restful sleep. Arginine happened to be in it as well)
Garlic and fish oil: I can stop these if they are overkill in your opinion.
If I have to drop all of them, I can if you think I should.
I just want to say I do appreciate the constructive criticism. Lay it on me if you have to. I'm the first to admit I don't have all the answers to everything.
