I’m gonna be serious here and try not to sound like a looney conspiracy theorists. They called and said that to you. When they asked are you “….” Did you reply anything? Did you say “no” my name is not so and so. Or any words exchanged at all?
The reason I’m asking is because recently I watched a video where huge amounts of the foreign ohone scammers are just calling and asking you certain questions b/c they have an”AI” program now that can completely match your voice and then use your voice . And there’s taking it from there to accesss and do all kinds of identity to money scams.

This is going on in the east coast too. They are extorting people who are already paranoid about financial stuff. Ohusband's. element is they call family and associates. All an elaborate scam.

One scam I've seen is they say money is owed from a payday loan. On another they say it is a sting on cheating boyfriends/husbands.

They are getting people's cell phones, email addresses, residential history, etc.

Sounds like a SCAM. Ive had pkgs seized before and have received letters from Customs. Nothing more has ever happened. Ive never order massive quantities of anything either…CBP has bigger fish to fry.

Dont worry bout it. Just like the IRS, CBP would never call you.

Never heard of calls from CBP. Sounds like a scam, but I would be concerned regardless.

I've known people who have received the letter asking you to contact them about a package they are holding. Obviously, just call it a loss at that point.

take it from someone who has got a CD done time for it .. You are being WATCHED, if in fact that was your pack that got snagged. YOU WOULD KNOW IF ITS A SCAM. POSTMASTER GENERAL called my cell directly and facilitated me picking up the hot pack 30 min later.

I would even clean house, I got too comfortable, was not slanging, but was sitting on some lab equip and raws from years past, literally were collecting dust. It was not intl either it was from local to me, from a well known sponsor still in action. I would never even attempt to import with my record and especially not west coast customs at this point. take it as a grain of salt

there are some red flags along my path I would have done differently and payed better attention in retrospect

Customs sends letters. I have received several over the years until I learned to order domestic. Costs more but worth it. Never happened again and just put in an order just before this post. I always get my packages no problem.

No one calls you, your bank the IRS the Cops your Electric service your City Water etc asking for money or personal information. Lately I’ve been getting text messages saying something about packages from ups, fedex and other scams because I never signed up for any notifications or anything like that so I immediately delete them.
If you’re pack doesn’t arrive take it as a loss and contact the vendor if they have a reship and give a different address.

My first seizure letter was when I was 18 or 19 and lived at home with parents. My mom opened and read it…..” mom I have no idea, must be a mix up “. She was dead set on me calling the # if u want to claim package and explain that it must of been a mix up.

Another time with seizure letter…. I had 3 or 4 kits and some gear coming that was seized. I noticed tracking never came out of customs and I received a seizure letter a couple weeks later. To this day I have no idea wtf happened but a couple months later a package that had been opened and had customs tape all over it, was sitting at my door step. All products in tact. That one did actually freak me out , but again I was young and dumb and said fuck it, cool.

The way I would handle this depends on the exact scenario … do you currently have a shipment coming internationally (your wording is unclear)? If so even if it may be a scam/phishing attempt I’d operate with an abundance of caution and I would clean house and not accept any packages and remove anything incriminating from your residence.

… if you do not have any packages currently inbound I’d ignore it and assume it’s spam/scam attempt.

I got a international package but part of it was missing my source said they would ship the remaining part but have not given me a shipping number yet

I would get in touch with your source and verify if second package was shipped yet or not.

Over the years I've received a couple of seizure letters, but that's it, nothing else has ever come of it. The phone call definitely sounds like a Scam. The Scammer has no idea that by dumb luck they just happened to call someone that actually has a potential suspicious package on the way. Protect yourself and cover your tracks and let it blow over.

Postal inspectors can and do make phone calls if they come across something on their desk (yes with domestic as well)

How does this happen? Bad luck, and if you've been flagged due to a customs seizure in the past

You're not as safe as you think you are, and how much they care about you depends on your location (busy metro area has less resources) + luck

They called me from el paso but it was a Wisconsin number and I am in Brownsville tx
