Disappointments of the past

What has already happened before is not what will happen next. Because right now, you have the opportunity to change direction.

If you’re moving in a positive and fruitful direction, you can choose to keep going that way, and even to accelerate your progress. Or, if you’ve experienced difficulty and disappointment in the past, this is your time to make a change.

When you focus on what’s already happened, it can be easy to feel permanently stuck in a bad place. So focus instead on the fact that you can, right now, choose a more positive direction.

Today is a new day, and it is your day to live in the best way you can imagine. It is your day to move in precisely the direction you choose.

Though rising above a difficult past will require great effort and commitment on your part, you certainly can do it. And there’s no better way to spend your time than making your way forward and permanently locking your disappointments in the past.

Let yourself be you

It’s difficult to truly and honestly be who you are. It is so difficult, in fact, that many people don’t make the attempt.

And yet, it is even more difficult to continue, day after day, year after year, to deny the beautiful, unique reality of who you are. Though it is hard and demanding work to be you, it is the most satisfying and fulfilling thing you can do with your time.

For it is by being true to your purpose that you fill your world and your experience with exquisite richness. The real, true you is who can offer the very most value, comfort, encouragement and joy to others, to the world, and to all of life.

Living each moment and each situation with uncompromising authenticity is a difficult, inconvenient and often embarrassing choice. Even so, it is far and away the best choice you can make, not only for yourself but also for everything else you care about.

True wealth

Everything has a cost. And that is good, because it enables everything to have value.

It is your participation in the creation of value that makes it valuable and meaningful to you. It is a waste of your precious life to expect something for nothing.

It is the earning, not the possession, that brings fulfillment. It is what you contribute that determines your true wealth.

Move ahead with no regrets

Excuses are easy, and consequently they are worthless. Real, focused, sustained work is difficult and challenging, and can achieve magnificent results.

What is easy and carefree in the short term becomes painfully, desperately difficult in the long run. Because when you waste today with excuses, you fill tomorrow with regret.

Work can be tedious, frustrating, inconvenient and draining, and yet you absolutely can get it done. Regret, on the other hand, is impossible to escape once you’ve created it.

So without question, it is far better to use your time to create value rather than regret. Instead of taking the seemingly easy way out, take the truly best way forward.

This hour, this day, this week, you are depositing the fruits of your efforts into the lasting experience of your life. Be sure to fill those deposits with meaningful, positive value rather than with painful regret.

Step forward with action

Start now, not tomorrow or early next week or when you have the time. Now is when your time is, so use it now.

Sure, it’s important to plan and to prepare. What’s essential, though, is to put your intentions into action.

Even if you’re not fully prepared, there’s something you can do right now. Even if you’re unable to get it all done, you can get moving right away in a productive direction.

Action accomplishes more than just the immediate results it creates. Taking action seals your commitment and puts you in a state of solid, indisputable effectiveness.

Action lets you see and know, without the slightest doubt, how capable you can be. Though it’s great to tell yourself you can do it, action goes several steps beyond that and shows you that you can do it.

Your dreams and goals and best intentions begin to be truly yours only when you act on them. So stop just thinking about it or wishing for it, and step forward right now with real, solid action.

Make your greatness real

You have immense greatness within you. Yet you have to be the person who lives, fulfills, expresses and manifests that greatness.

It’s something no one else can do for you. The special, unique greatness within you is of no use or significance without your active, committed participation in it.

The things you possess won’t express that greatness. The mere poses you assume won’t bring that greatness to life.

The only way to truly fulfill your own special greatness is by putting your time, your focus, your resources and dedication into living that greatness. For it is only through your day-to-day commitment that the special beauty within you flows outward.

It’s much easier to hide the beauty away, and to never let it fully develop. But what a shame that would be, and what a terrible regret it would create.

Life is longing for your greatness, and, deep inside, you are longing to bring it to life. Make the commitment, do the work to make that greatness real, and use your days to fulfill your own beautiful destiny.
