I haven't used Vitargo yet either, out of principle. Just too damn expensive. I'm in Sweden so it's been around for years since it's a Swedish product. I think I'll split a 10kg bag of Hitargo (same product for veterinary use, a bit cheaper) with my friend who'll use it for contest carb load soon. Curious if it offers any advantage in the off-season over malto/dex, other than being easier on the stomach.

The nice thing about the maize is it wont spike insulin like malt or dex..so you can use it on carb load days or hig carb days without getting fat...or the crash if your have hypoglycemic issues with sugars..

Vitargo causes an insulin spike for sure (take a look at the Vitargo studies). Why would it not? Being an extremely fast carb, with a similar insulin response to malto, I don't see how it would reduce the chance of hypo either, don't see any reason why it wouldn't cause a crash. I'd expect it to be worse if anything.

I just bought some and am working it into my pre contest diet for right now, I'm sure it will change as I get closer to my show.

I have a question, do you guys put your creatine/glutamine into your shake too? I have read that it will help in the absorption of these supps as well.....

Thanks Rex, Yeah that is what I do with my PWO now, either putting it in the shake or taking it this way will work I am sure.

I used it to carb up for my contest and it worked great!! Just made a paste because i couldnt drink water the morning of show........Got up before prejudging about 5am in the morn and started carbing with it. Its great stuff
