ok ...been lifting weights for 15years with no injuries so i guess im due. today while incline benching on the smith as i came down i felt a slight pull at the insertion point between pec and shoulder. i have complete mobility, its just that one area i described feels, tender and sore. i took some motrin to keep the swelling down.

what do you guys think in terms of how long i should not bench to allow the area to heal?

just so you guys know my form is always spot on as i dont believe in cheating with sloppy form to move any weight.
 
Stretch it and get some chinise deep tissue work. It's most likely yoour tendon that got tight. The chinise masseurs make miracles!

I'd say as long as you feel it sore and/or weak then don't train them
 
the same thing a had let say for a 6 weeks.my both sholders were in the pain,and i mean pain.i knew the problem,but i never even tryed to fix it.so from shoulders it vet down to my elbows.ok that did it to me.the worst thing about me,i been training thrue the pain all the time.and i am ok with it,but why i am doing this i have no idea.and the stupid thing is i gave a friend who lives with me and she does deep tishue massages.so i waited 6 weeks to ask her.
so yesterday was the first workout with no pain in my shoulders,but still soma pain in my elbows.
i am streching again,and geting massages very often.
